“Big room with cheap food”
very nice for the price. it is close to the beach, and the hotel restaurant offers good value food as well.
“Don't go there”
Tired shabby old hotel in desperate need of renovation.
“Awful hotel”
The Brittania is not as pictured in the photos. This is a very tired hotel. Our room was very small and the bathroom was moldy and awful. When we asked for a different room, the showed us to another that had a slept in, unmade bed and the upholstery on the furniture was torn and ripped. We decided to stay somewhere else and didn't even stay one night (we were supposed to be there four nights). The manager wouldn't refund our money. Thank goodness Expedia customer service was amazing and gave us our money back anyways. Do not stay here. This hotel is very past it's prime.
“value for money do not expect a five star hotel”
Value for money - do not expect a five star hotel. If you what a basic and a no frills hotel this is it. Good food, accomandation and generaly clean and close to the sea front.
“Not very impressed.”
The breakfast was great. Location was good as close to beach and a 15 - 20 minute walk to pier. The bed in our room was very uncomfortable and squeaky,as was the floor. The blankets were very old. The kettle was so dirty and old I had to call room service to replace it, which they did, very promptly. The hotel needs a complete refurb but due to the reduced price we paid it was expected, but if i had paid full price I would have demanded a refund. The rooms have very thin walls and we could hear everything around us. Take ear plugs with you!!!!
“You get what you pay for.”
Cheap and cheerful is the best way to describe this hotel. If you want a no frills hotel in a convenient central location then you should consider this one. The rooms were a bit dated (not like the stylish modern rooms in the photos when booking) but clean and well presented. Breakfast was nice and staff were helpful. Overall no major problems and good value for the price paid.
“Will Never Stay At Any Britannia Hotel Again!”
Not being impressed with previous reviews on this hotel I asked to see a selection of rooms on arrival and decided to pay extra and upgrade to a "Superior" room. So this review is on what Britannia believes is a "Superior" room. Light, airy en-suite room facing the Sea & overlooking the covered pool - so far so good. However, the twin beds were horrendous - bulging springs, lumpy & noisy. This was November & the room received only luke-warm heat from the radiators (when the heating was on) and these remained cold from 9am until 5pm and from 10pm until early morning. The room had only partial double glazing and was therefore mostly very cold. Ditto the hot water to the bathroom - this was more constant but was never hot. The carpet was stained and throughout the night we were treated to a "generator type" noise from the swimming pool area. The whole hotel needs a thorough refurbishment as all rooms (including bedrooms) appear "distressed" as were we at our experience. Despite all the staff being extremely helpful, no-one seemed to be responsible for cleaning any of the public areas. The lounge and foyer area was often full of leaves and debris blown in from the car park. The food was just passable - not good, not bad. After this experience we will never be tempted to use any Britannia Hotel ever again.
“Great hotel for spending a weekend in Bournemouth”
Good value hotel. Room was spacious and comfortable (carpet could do with replacing) but it was perfectly clean and room had everything you need. The bathroom was tiny but again, it was fine. The location is good as it's right next to the beach and close to the town. Breakfast was served til half ten at the weekend and check out time was 12, fantastic! So many places kick you out at 10 so great hotel for a relaxing break. There's a pool and jacuzzi too so will try this out on our next visit.
“Granny's furniture and grubby bedding”
We were in Bournemouth for a family wedding. Reception was offhand and forgot to order the taxi we needed to get to the wedding. The room was furnished in a style that reminded me of my Granny's spare room, but she would never have put a stained bedspread over what seemed to be a horse blanket. Breakfast was good, but we could have done without the loud commentary from on of the dining room staff on the failings of another staff member.
“Disappointed”
Bournemouth was full on the weekend that we visited so I could excuse a few problems. There was a shortage of parking on site and I ended up having to park in an unsecured spot round the back of a partner hotel a few minutes walk away (and then had to wait behind a linen delivery when I wanted to leave). Quality was acceptable, but nothing special for the price we paid, will try somewhere else next time.
