Hotel is within walking distance to Ti'anmen square, Wangujing shopping district, and lots of restaurants and street food vendors. Room was spacious and comfortable, with a large sitting area. A quiet retreat from a fully day of sight seeing. Staff was friendly and attentive, we arrived early morning, before room was ready, stored our luggage with Concierge, check-in was fast and hassle-free, also helped us with arranging taxi on day of departure.
Beautiful luxury hotel with superb rooms at very reasonable rates. The hotel is close to the Forbidden City and Tianamen Square. Excellent shopping is only a 10 minute walk away. The hotel is directly on a subway line giving easy access to the other historic sites and attractions around the city.
Beijing is mad! 23million people will do that to a city. That said, other than the smog the part of the city we stayed was very clean. Public toilets not so much but that's more a culture thing I'm picking. I found getting round mostly easy once you got the commuincation going. I wouldn't pick Beijing as a place to relax. Food and drink were cheap enough.
This hotel in a hutong (small street) 120 yuan from airport
Has a wonderful square where you eat for dinner with an air of calm about it breakfast buffet style and good also

An historical district, Dongcheng is home to a concentration of major sights and treasures including Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City (Palace Museum). To the south, discover Wangfujing Street, a famous shopping boulevard that sees mostly foot traffic only. Here, more than 200 old Beijing brands still reign supreme including the Wuyutai Tea House and Shengxifu hat store.
