Hotel is perfectly situated between beaches and shopping and attractions. The Kings Shops and Queens Market Place have every amenity, great shops and food you could want within walking distance. The hotel has great pools and spas. Towell service is very accommodating and snorkeling beaches all around. The checkin was the only time staff were slow and seemed to not be prompt in helping get weary travelers checked in quickly.
We stayed at the Mauna Lani for our honeymoon. The resort had everything on site, for a perfect stay. Great restaurants, golf, stores, etc. Great pools and beaches. Swam with turtles only feet off our beach. The hotel is open with lush landscaping throughout! The hotel staff was super nice and accommodating! Beautiful sunsets and almost no one on the beaches. Very private.
We stayed for a little over a week in December. The beach is absolutely beautiful. I spent a lot of time snorkeling. It was an amazing experience for me. One time, I saw a sea turtle and swam with it for about 20 minutes.
My only complaint was the staff at the beach who rented out equipment and moved the chairs, etc. Some of them were obnoxious.
There is a nearby sister hotel called Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel. As a guest of Mauna Kea Beach Resort, you can use their facilities as well. This little secret was not told to us by the staff. We learned it from another guest, who seemed to have been a long-time regular guest. Many of the hotel guests were elderly people. We were happy about it, since that made the hotel a quiet place to stay.
