"A lovely time in Edinburgh! "
The Emerald Guest House was recommended to us by a friend who has stayed there multiple times. The rooms were neat and clean and the staff friendly. Ann, the very charming proprietor, offers a variety of breakfast choices and we certainly had plenty to eat to energize us for our daily sightseeeing. The bus stop for the 29 and 3 bus is just outside the front door of the house. We did not mind the 20 minute ride into the city center. But when you have luggage, it is good to know that you need to be prepared to get off the airport tram on Princess Street near Frederick and get on another bus that is not right there. You need to get a bus schedule so you know where to find the correct bus stop. We bought a week long bus pass that does not expire, for our 4 days in Edinburgh. Now we will have to go back and explore all we did not see!

"Nice hotel and comfortable"
Nice comfortable hotel, but only downside was that it said on booking that full breakfast was included, but when got to this hotel the owner said full breakfast wasn't included, so was disappointed with this.

"Great Stay"
We enjoyed our stay and your company. The only downside for us was the trip to the bathroom as we would have preferred on-suite. A suggestion for the room would be if a double socket could be fitted to allow the ladies to hot brush their hair within sight of the mirror

"Functional"
Our stay was pleasant and comfortable, unfortunately our room was next to A7 and traffic noise can be an issue. Our meal in the restaurant whilst nice was I think overpriced.

"Character hotel in a beautiful location"
From the moment we entered we were warmly welcomed and cossetted. Staff were excellent, polite and attentive even though there was a wedding on we did not feel marginalised or less important. Fine meal in the evening though menu limited - presumably as they are more of an event hotel rather than running a restaurant in a traditional style hotel. Breakfast though plentiful was buffet style with the downside of the food not being piping hot. only negative comment room wise was the cam ceiling - I could negotiate past the bottom of the bed if I leant over, at 5ft 4in , but not so convenient for hubby or anyone taller. Would still recommend and will return next time we are in the area.
