"Very good for a French 3-star hotel and very clean"
We had 2 nights in a suite. The room was very clean, with a large comfortable bed, small sofa and armchairs. Smart grey, white and red decor and good quality. Everything in good condition and worked well, but BBC World News was the only English channel on the TV.
The bathroom was large and modern, and there were grab-rails by the toilet and shower for people with mobility problems. Little bottles of shampoo and shower gel were provided. There were no screens so the water splashed outside of the shower area. Good lighting.
A kettle with a few sachets of tea and coffee were provided, plus a steaming device for heating up (expensive) pre-prepared packs of food available to buy from Reception. We bought fresh milk from the Lidl supermarket nearby. The hotel is also close to LeClerc and Carrefour supermarkets but quite a walk from the centre of Dinan. Plenty of free parking in the road by the hotel.
The couple running the hotel spoke English but had no time to chat to us either at check-in or check-out. They worked in Reception, the bar and the breakfast room. Breakfast was 10Euros. The cheese, ham, crossants and salted caramel were very good. There were also 3 cereal choices, yoghurts and tiny bowls of tinned fruit but these often ran out and the lady was too busy to replenish them promptly. Scrambled eggs and bacon were in the buffet too but these unfortunately were not kept hot enough. You got your coffee from a vending machine.
We will stay here again.
This hotel was inexpensive but was clean and comfortable. It's central location was ideal for exploring Dinan and some lovely restaurants / cafes are just a couple of minutes away. The staff were helpful. Parking is also only a minute from the hotel and not at all expensive. We will go back
Hard to find. Not sure what the whole building is but I think it is an apartment building that lets out one room suites with kitchens as a hotel. Good breakfast. Nice enclosed pool. Far enough from old town that you need a car.
"Central hotel, good for couples, poor for groups."
A very convenient, welcoming hotel with a delightful host. It is situated amongst narrow, cobbled, one-way streets in the centre of the old town, on the doorstep of shops and restaurants. It is within easy walking distance of all the sites and the old port.
There is no parking at the hotel but (expensive) car parks are close by. Free parking is situated a short walk away outside the town walls. For luggage drop-off ensure you take a street map.
This hotel is cute and quaint with character. There are lots of sloping roofs and the clock sounds every quarter of an hour during the daytime. However, with lots of stairs and no lift it is not suitable for disabled persons. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable with fridges and hairdryers but the bizarre, unsympathetic interior decoration is intrusive. There is nowhere to sit outside and there is no bar or seating area inside, which makes relaxing with friends difficult. The breakfasts are delicious but served in an uncomfortably garish and squashed dining room.
The friendly host is extremely helpful, accommodating and delighted to offer suggestions for local activities and restaurants.
Dinan market takes place on Thursdays, a stone's throw from the hotel.
Located in Dinan, beautifully preserved medieval city in Brittany , Western France, the Hotel De La Tour De L'Horloge …More
The small, medieval walled town of Dinan is tucked along the banks of the River Rance an hour from Mont St Michel. The town offers many attractions, from its stone bridge to its ramparts and the charming town square, which hosts a weekly market. Cobblestone streets and half-timbered buildings lead the way to the enchanting port. Every summer Dinan dresses itself up for the Festival des Remparts.
