I had to book in at 5am as the flight I was using changed times. Although I was 10 hours early there was no problem at all. This summed up the whole stay - staff very helpful at all times, very polite and nothing was too much trouble. I would recommend using this hotel if ever in Dhaka.

We stayed at the Tropical Daisy twice during our stay in Bangladesh, first when we arrived, and then again after a trip to Cox's Bazar. The staff was so friendly, they even surprised me with a candle lit cake on my birthday! Breakfast is served downstairs or in bed, and all inquiries are responded to right away! The Tropical Daisy has a pretty nice location for Dhaka, with a nice view of the lake, and pretty close to some decent restaurants and useful shops (it takes a day or so to get the hang of the city, but don't get discouraged!). I can't imagine staying anywhere else in Dhaka, especially considering the price! The Radisson is way more expensive and not within walking distance of anything. STAY AT THE TROPICAL DAISY. They can help you arrange travel farther afield in Bangladesh, too, which you will want to do (Sundarbans or Cox's Bazar are the best).

The location is good and the hotel is the 5 star hotel. But the room is so small and wet, not so comfortbal. Swimming pool is so dirty and the breakfast is not so good. The hotel is good, but hope that will be better.

For me, this hotel was an oasis on the outskirts of a very congested, busy and polluted city. I loved It's proximity to the airport (an early morning 5 minute ride), it's complimentary breakfast (one of the very best I have had anywhere!), and its free wifi in every room. What I found unique was the attitude of the hotel's staff. After exemplary service I tried to tip the bellboy, Khalid, and he refused it saying, "No thank you, sir, it is my job." Equally refreshing was the gentleman from Housekeeping, who, failing to find a good iron to replace my broken room iron, located a laundry room iron and insisted upon doing my pressing free of charge "because of the inconvenience." Would I return here the next time I am in Dhaka? Definitely!

Don't let the decent photography fool you, this is not a comfortable business hotel in a nice part of town. It is down an alley, surrounded by crumbling buildings, and the staff are very poorly trained. In fact, I feel one of the few positive points of this hotel is its relative proximity to the airport. The staff lost a package of mine, and denied it was ever received. When trying to contact hotel staff by phone, I called every number in their directory multiple times without getting an answer. To me, the absolute the nail in the coffin was when I booked a car to take me to the airport, and they did not make arrangements and yet hesitated to tell me this. When my car eventually arrived some 20 minutes late, it was a dilapidated rust bucket that was covered in vinyl seat protectors, and that smelled like a foot. To make matters worse, they made me share the ride with another person and the commercial goods he intended to peddle, and yet the car still would not leave until I made a complaint to the management. It was a miracle I even made my flight. To make a long story short, this was quite easily the worst stay I have ever had while traveling professionally.

Staff is rude and opportunist.
Case 1: I asked whether any airport pick up service. Actually they don't hv it, but the hotel person said yes, they have it. He took money from me and then as a middle man made agreement with another taxi service company, paid them half of what I gave and dat company messed up. I had to pay again some extra to that taxi company such as airport parking fees. I took the van with high cost considering of security since picking up midnight. The purpose was not served since it was ordinary van.
Case 2: The hotel closes at 10 PM. They were well informed that they are picking someone from airport at midnight. When we came in front of hotel, the door is closed and nobody there. Almost after 45 minutes and knocking and shouting the security guard came and behave very rude. He was even closing the door saying, okay you stay outside. My wife was coming from Canada, almost 40 hours flight journey, I felt so bad for her.
Case 3: They do not have any half day extension policy. I stayed 3 days, my flight at 6 PM. Check out time shows at 1 PM, I just needed extra 1 hour. I offered half day extension payment, they disagreed and charged me full one day extra for that extra hour.
I would say, all they see is money, not about client service. Well, at least that's my experience, yours could be worse or better.

This hotel is good value for money. The rooms are clean (though not particularly atmospheric - mostly old brown furniture) and the location is excellent. Most rooms don't have a window, or rather, they have a window that looks out onto the wall of the building next door, so it's not much of a view and it doesn't let in much light.
The staff were nice enough and everything worked fine. The wifi is not free, but costs a nominal amount and works pretty well.
The breakfast is included and is a buffet of Bangla food - curries, rotis, dhal, etc. The only western style food is white bread and jam.

If you go in with the right expectation it will exceed all of it. What's amazing about the hotel is, they sincerely care about my requests. Never saying no, amazing! I had to get some med at the mid night for headache, and they sent someone on behalf of me to get some. Breakfast was really wholesome! More than 25 items for a breakfast and all that was included at the amazingly affordable room rate; though it had 60% local and 40% western, but their local breakfast offerings was very pleasing too, not very pungent.
Very high regarded and recommended, if you are looking for a great value for your buck.
