Outstanding!!

Posted 16-Dec-2014
Pros: comfort, breakfast, attention to detail
Cons: nothing
My wife and I booked a junior suite here for a couple of nights and were very impressed. My occupation means that I stay in a lot of hotels of all standards around the UK, most of which do not deserve the star rating they get - especially the 4 and 5 star ones. The attention to detail was the best my wife and I have ever seen in a hotel of any star rating. It is very tastefully decorated and furnished, the bed was very comfortable (memory foam) and the whole place was absolutely spotless. There were some very thoughtful touches like free fresh fruit and various cakes in the corridor together with a fridge with small jugs of fresh milk for tea/coffee. For a very reasonable 9 quid there was a full or light English breakfast on offer as well as a huge variety of fruit and cereals - I couldn't think of any obvious additions which could be made. The hosts Adam & Grant made us feel very welcome and seemed genuinely nice people, not forgetting their 2 lovely Dachshunds Hector & Oscar who were allowed to trot around the ground floor after the breakfast session had finished. One of the best things we found in our room was the most comprehensive guide to the hotel, surrounding area and pubs and restaurants we have ever seen - anywhere. It even included some amusing negative reviews of some eating places; it was beautifully thought out and presented and was typical of the care and attention to detail we experienced during our stay. Thanks chaps - we'll definitely be back!!

Good location to the town

Pros: It was very comfortable and the breakfasts were wonderful, so much choice. Also it was good to have fresh milk to use in the room.
Had not visited Torquay for a long time but it was well worth another visit and find such a good hotel.

Service excellent, couldn't fault the breakfasts, bit of a walk up the hill from the front, but overall a very pleasant experience.

Many Thanks for your kind comments. Torquay is worse than Rome as its built on 7 hills. Thankfully we are on the lowest with just a 5 minute walk to the town centre and a few more minutes back.

Pros: The small touches
Cons: None
Location: Good location five minutes up a small incline to the centre.
My wife and I spent three nights at the Sommerville at the beginning of September and enjoyed every moment from arrival in the spacious carpark and the warm welcolme,The bedrooms are totally luxurious with attention to every need, even an ironing board and fridge.Very comfortable bed and lovely fixtures.Cake and fresh milk are available in the afternoon in the hallway. The breakfast was the highlight of our stay. The presentation, choice and quality on offer is fantastic and the staff are excellent.Everything is quality about this hotel and our thanks to them for making this our best stay in a hotel yet.Stay here you won't regret it.

We had a great stay at the Someville. The room was great ,the service was outstanding and they could not have been more helpful. The breakfast was realy good with an extreamly good selection from the buffet and a good choice of hot food. The hotel was within a short walk of several realy good restaurants and we were advised by the hotel which ere the best We will definatlly plan to stay there when we return to torquay.
