Good overnight stop

Posted 04-Jan-2015
Pros: Locals very friendly as were staff.
Cons: Parking could be an issue when its busier but did not affect us.
Location: Exeter nearest main attraction.
Arrived between Christmas and New Year en route to South Devon so quite quiet. Food was 3 * pub food with helpful staff. Kitchen is unusually on 1st floor and we did get a hint of chip smeech / smell in our room. Silverton is a pleasant Devon village.

Beautiful place to stay, lovely and quiet yet a lovely atmosphere in the bar downstairs. We used the silverton as a stop off between destinations, lovely and clean hotel with lovely meals! Highly recommended!

Comfortable inn set in lovely countryside

Posted 15-Aug-2014
I booked this thinking it was in Fore Street, Exeter and the map on Expedia definitely indicated this. I think this has now been rectified. It was a little further to travel each day to Sidmouth Folk festival, but very comfortable and tranquil.

Pleasant place with friendly staff

Posted 26-Jul-2014
Booked and pre paid via Expedia the night before however staff may have been confused and thought Expedia was booking confirmation only and charged us again on departure. End result was we were double charged and only realised the following evening. However it was quickly resolved by the owner with only a couple of emails. Food and staff very good but parking could be a problem. We were lucky and got a park right across the street but a car park is available with a short walk. Accommodation ok but it is an older place with low headroom in places and shared bathroom.

Convenient for visiting Exeter University

Posted 17-Jun-2014
Pros: Top quality en suite room
Cons: Very little
Location: Traditional Devon thatch village and proximity to Exeter city park & ride
We discovered that Monday was steak night with chips & trimmings from £6.95, washed down with well kept Cornish Tribune beer! With a different theme most evenings we'll have to try pie night next time!

Moderne Zimmer im traditionellen Pub

Posted 16-Jun-2014
Pros: Modernes Zimmer, sehr nettes Personal.
Location: Im kleinen, ruhigen Ort Silverton.

Lovely Hotel Good Value!

Posted 09-Jun-2014
Pros: The attitude of the landlord/staff, the cleanliness and comfort of the rooms, the quality of the food - Food's sourced locally (not the baked beans).
Cons: Small points, which I'm sure they will deal with without my having to tell you about them.
Location: Silverton Sq is served hourly by 55A/55B bus until 9ish, followed by 10.50pm bus. Some 55 and 155 buses serve Silverton turn off, half a mile away.
I phoned the hotel to find out what would happen if my coach was delayed too long to enable me to check in by 10pm, and was sent email instructions, which are not difficult to follow and do work - In fact when I arrived after 11pm, they were still around (I was told it was unusual for them to be still around quite that late), so I did not need to follow them myself, but witnessed them easily being followed by a family when I went out for a late night constitutional. The bed was very comfortable. In the morning I needed to eat slightly before the official start of breakfast (8am), so they bent over backwards to feed me - Had I needed to eat earlier, I'd have had to do on cereal, yoghurt, juice and tea/coffee, but for the price who's complaining? As it was, the breakfast was excellent. If I had been after lifts and liftmen, 24 hour service, etc., I could have got it at 2-3 times the price!
