The facilities at Hotel

Posted 07-Sep-2014
Pros: The staff were all very friendly and obliging. We played golf and I had a lesson with Laura The Pro which was really beneficial
Cons: The lifts worked but need upgrading
Location: The location was lovely and so near to Babbacombe sea front and restaurants which were 10mins walk away.
The facilities at this hotel were great. Our bedroom needed upgrading and the television was old fashion. Having said that the rest of the hotel had been upgraded to an excellent standard. The dining room and lounges reflected the 4 # rating.

Large Hotel between Torquay and Babbacombe

Posted 14-Jul-2014
Cons: Standard rooms need to be refurbished but then this hotel would be unaffordable for some.
Lovely large old hotel. We booked a standard room and were happy with the room. Very old interior but clean. Bed was a bit uncomfortable but OK for the 2 nights booked. Breakfast was great. Located uphill from Torquay town so would need to get a bus into Torquay if you are not fond of walking. Plenty of facilities if you like to be active.

A little bit of history in torquay

Posted 12-Jun-2014
Pros: We loved the old fashioned style, service, tranquillity and setting and the staff were great.
Cons: The decoration, and the furnishings, it really does need a lot of money spending on it,but it would not stop us returning.
A very relaxing 4 day stay in a lovely hotel in beautiful grounds fairly close to the sea

Business stay

I have stayed here once before and i was disappointed then of the restaurant service.i thought i would give it ine more time. The room was in need of decoratiing, the restaurant again i was disappointed and feel it does not warrant a 4 star hotel. I will not stay here again

Showing its age

Posted 16-May-2014
Pros: Food and the staff.
Cons: Bed, d├ęcor,
There are a number of things that make this hotel exceptional. First and foremost, the staff. Always willing and helpful, especially in the restaurant. Second the food - tasty, reasonable price, and a breakfast fit for a king. When you enter on the ground floor, you get a feeling of grandeur, but I am afraid this doesn't extent to the room we stayed in, a so called standard room. Don't get me wrong it wasn't like it was falling down, its just starting to look its age. These standard rooms at a travelodge give a far more luxurious feel, the tv suffers from a snowy picture, which isn't a problem if you spend most of the time out and about. Both my wife and I found the bed uncomfortable, and the bathrooms desperately need of updating.

ok value for the discount price paid only had 1 night stay so unfair to comment on all hotels features and facilities, which it has a lot. A little dated but pleasant.

Good facilities, bad bedrooms

Posted 07-May-2014
The hotel is due to be refurbished at some point and this is evident from the condition of the so called standard rooms. These standard rooms fall so far below standard that unless you want to use the facilities or have breakfast you're better off staying at a travelodge. Standard rooms are at the rear of the hotel and suffer from noise and smells from the kitchen air handling unit. Beds are uncomfortable, tv's are 14" cut (not even flat screens), bathrooms desperately need a refresh. In the room we stayed in I'm convinced we could hear conversations in at least four other rooms. The main hotel facilities are good and unlike the bedrooms the shared spaces almost warrant the 4star title, Breakfast service and food was good quality. If you are planning on staying here either plump for the opulent and expensive suites or give a wide berth else face the prospect of paying high prices to fund a refurb that will happen after you've decided not to come back again.
