Enjoyable stay.

Had a nice relaxing stay at the palace. As expected when booking, rooms a little tired but clean and comfortable. Small fuzzy TV in room with hardly any chanel choice but unless you like to stay in your room and watch TV then this isn't an issue. Hotel staff friendly and helpful. Dining room and breakfast was amazing. If you fancy a taste of how things were in the 20s than you will appreciate this Hotel. Great budget price, would stay here again without doubt.

Not paying enough attention to the core product

Posted 22-Jan-2015 on Hotels.com
Stayed here while having my bathroom refitted at home. The hotel is very dated. While the public areas are better maintained, unfortunately, my room was very shabby. Not a four star standard at all. Very old-fashioned, an ancient looking kettle which was heavily scratched, single glazed windows which rattled all night, a large stain on the bathroom ceiling, old style mixer shower, shower curtain, cobwebs, no vanity unit, scratchy old blanket and 'granny style' bedspread.. Generally in great need of a refurb! Now staying at the Travelodge which is surprisingly much better (the bedroom), clean, fresh and modern. The Palace is focusing too much on conferencing, and not paying enough attention to their core product (the rooms). The breakfast was very good though, although it's not served until 7.30, which wasn't convenient for me as the first morning I had to go out at 7.30 and the second morning at 8am.

Good value for money

Posted 16-Dec-2014 on Hotels.com
Hotel was lovely, breakfast very generous & enjoyable. I had a single room with a portable heater which was adequate for my needs. My only issue was the hot water was not very efficient, it too ages to run and was not very hot. A minor fault. Overall it was very good value for money & I would definitely stay again

Classy looking hotel

Posted 08-Dec-2014
Pros: See above
Cons: The decor , bedding in bedrooms.
Location: Spent both days shopping in Torquay which I very much enjoyed.
We booked your hotel for my wife's 66th birthday and was very impressed by the look of the hotel, the friendly ness of the cleaning staff, the professionalism of the receptionists etc. The swimming pool was very nice, but we really liked the table tennis being available. We ate in the beautiful restaurant with crisp white well laid tables. The breakfast was the best choice and taste ever. The only downside was that although we had a half price offer on our room it felt Shabby, the bedspread and blankets were very old and dated. The wardrobe door would not shut and the foot bar was broken under the dressing table. The television was ancient with interference on all channels. Shame really as everything else was top marks.

Business Trip

Posted 17-Oct-2014 on Hotels.com
Stayed at the hotel for 1 night on business recently. The hotel is situated on top of a steep hill which is a mile to the marina part of Torquay. The staff were ok, I got the impression because the hotel is called palace, they actually think they work in a palace, the way they are dressed & the way they act, a lot more formal than other hotels I have stayed in. The hotel is old & in need of modernisation. Wifi only works on the ground floor in public areas, mobile phone signal is real poor, I have a Vodafone & EE phones both didn't work there. Room was ok, bed comfy, breakfast was nice.

The facilities at Hotel

Posted 07-Sep-2014
Pros: The staff were all very friendly and obliging. We played golf and I had a lesson with Laura The Pro which was really beneficial
Cons: The lifts worked but need upgrading
Location: The location was lovely and so near to Babbacombe sea front and restaurants which were 10mins walk away.
The facilities at this hotel were great. Our bedroom needed upgrading and the television was old fashion. Having said that the rest of the hotel had been upgraded to an excellent standard. The dining room and lounges reflected the 4 # rating.

Excellent service, good hotel

Posted 09-Aug-2014 on Hotels.com
We really enjoyed our stay at the Palace, the Hotel is pleasant and clean and the facilities are excellent as good as any I've been to. The staff were friendly and helpful and just added to an excellent few days away. We'll certainly use this hotel again when visiting the area.
