Great breakfast, could do with a quicker toaster

Posted 05-Mar-2015
Pros: We found the staff really friendly.
Cons: A quicker toaster!
Location: Good location by the beach 10 minute walk to town.
We had an enjoyable break. Little one enjoyed the pool and we had all we needed.

Better than expected.

Posted 03-Mar-2015
Pros: The location of the hotel was ideal as its a short walk to the centre.
Cons: They are clearly making improvements to the hotel which can only be a plus as its a little dated on appearance. May be fresh flowers in the reception.
Bookend a weekend at the Grosvenor as a last minute get away & was pleasantly surprised. After reading some reviews we were a little apprehensive as to what to expect. On arrival we were greeted by the very friendly staff who made us feel very welcome. The room was clean, warm and comfortable, though a new mattress would of made it a little more comfy as it was a little lumpy! The first night we ate in the hotel restaurant which was ok our only disappointment was the very limited choice but the meal its self was fine except from steak on a slate plate which in my own personal preference didn't like. Breakfast was amazing! There is plenty of selection to choose from. Overall it was a pleasant stay and would definetly go again.

ok. I wouldn't recommend. But not far off.

Pros: People were obviously trying, customer service was lovely, small bits and bob's let it down. Really good value for money. Enjoyed breakfast.
Cons: See above
Location: Didn't get out. Overnight stay with work
I walked into my room and literally went oooooh! Then the bath room and wow! Small details then let it down, the bedside tables were badly chipped and the taps/shower on the bath weren't up to standard although the bathroom was really nice. Really pedantic I know but just not right. The pool/changing area/Jacuzzi were really in need of upgrading although just about tolerable. Dinner was tasty (belly pork) but portion too small. No apple crumble but chocolate Bread and butter pudding nice but then let down by poor quality ice cream. On checkout they charged me for 3 Pints but I only had two. Staff sorted it out for me but if shouldn't have happened. I'd go there again for work but wouldn't visit for pleasure.

Had a lovely break with my 13 year old son. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Hotel room was very spacious, the beds were extremely comfortable and offered a nice selection of teas, coffee, water and toiletries in the room. Great choice at breakfast. My son loved the indoor pool and gym. Would recommend this hotel to friends and family.

Short stay en route to home

Posted 20-Feb-2015
Pros: The staff attitude was helpful, friendly and professional. The room fittings were of a high standard for this hotel type . A good breakfast provided.
Cons: The car-parking spaces were too narrow (our car was heavily scratched). Our room was stiflingly hot (even with radiators off).
Location: There are still overtones of being a Victorian holiday town. Two local theatres, a well-kept working harbour and a medieval abbey plus large beach.
I joined my wife one day late for a two day break in Torquay before driving back to Hampshire. Overall, I found the experience a positive one with friendly staff, a comfortable room, perfectly adequate breakfast and good value.

Comfortable hotel, close to amenities

Posted 13-Feb-2015
Pros: Central position
Cons: Needs someone to go round the rooms and sort out minor issues.
Location: On a major road out of Torquay; very convenient. Couple of very nice restuatants close by, as well as the Marina.
We used this for a one night stay. Hotel was clean and comfortable

Noisey room

Posted 10-Feb-2015
On arrival checked in staff friendly, room clean and tidy, noticed a loud humming noise and after an hour was not able to handle it as was causing a headache, spoke to reception who checked the room advised me it was from the jacuzzi downstairs and that at 9pm that would stop, I went out and about came back at 11pm noise still going on in the room couldn't take anymore as caused a headache again so went to reception, he checked the room also and admitted it was louder than normal but unfortunately as they had a do on they had no other room available he said he would leave a note for the morning staff, I ended up having to leave the TV on low to take the edge off the humming noise, couldn't sleep, went to reception in the morning they hadn't even read the note till I mentioned it they told me they would leave a note and the general manager would contact me, not heard a word from them yet, so they've had my money, I had the worst night of no sleep and I paid for the privalige of being fobbed off.

short break in Torquay.

Posted 26-Jan-2015
Pros: Hotel was just far enough away from the town. friendly staff. room comfortable. facilities good. breakfast good.
Cons: sometimes it was too hot in the room. !!
Location: good location. as expected for the time of year some attractions were closed. towns were open. museum open. enough restaurants open. lovely beaches.
we , my husband and I have just spent 4 days in Torquay which was most enjoyable indeed. visiting the local towns and surrounding areas. We have found people to be welcoming and pleasant to talk to. As expected for the time of year ,some attractions weren't open but there was still plenty to see and do. Beaches were very clean. Torquay and Paignton towns clean.
