Excellent Hotel within walking distance of City

Posted 13-Aug-2014
Pros: Good sized well appointed room Hotel is close to city with indoor swimming pool
Cons: Specialist windows fitted to rear bedrooms to cut down on noise from outside, or additional internal double glazing.
Location: Lots to do very compact city, restaurants and Pubs within walking distance, excellent location for daytrips.
We stayed in a privilege room as this was all that was available. This turned out to be money well spent. The room was a good size, well appointed with modern furnishings and very comfortable. The bathroom may have disappointed some as there was no bath having a large shower cubicle. The service from staff was excellent, breakfast was good, and the indoor swimming pool was also very clean. Exeter is a lovely City, very compact, and good roads out in all directions, which makes it a convenient place to stay, if you wish to also venture out on the odd day trip. All in all a very nice hotel in a very pleasant City.

Convenient and pleasant with helpful staff

Pros: Location: proximity to the Cathedral and historic centre. Very comfortable beds.
Cons: Bathrooms functional but somewhat dated and in need of a refurb. However spacious and water pressure great.
Visiting for a weekend. Selected for its location. Delighted with our choice, would stay again.

Convenient for city centre

Posted 15-Jul-2014
Pros: Dinner was lovely, particularly as we were very well looked after by Melanie. The food was tasty, reasonably priced & my food allergy no problem.
Cons: Biscuits to have with tea or coffee would be nice, but otherwise no complaints!
Location: Great position for Exeter city centre.
Stayed one night for university graduation. The hotel was busy for graduation week, but staff were well organised and helpful. Our room was clean, a good size and had all we needed; good sized bathroom, comfortable bed etc. It was really useful being able to leave the car in the hotel car park for the day. Unfortunately, we did not have time to try out the pool.

Easy walking distance to cathedral, shops + river

Posted 23-May-2014 on Hotels.com
Love the hotel interior/decor and our Superior room (contemporary). Had to put earplugs in (but that's 'cos I'm a light sleeper). Great view of the city wall from our room. Only stayed one night for our wedding anniversary. Thumbs up for free wifi in the rooms so I could upload photos to social networking sites, and check out websites for things to do and places to eat. We ate at El Bocado (spanish) which was excellent and a 3 min walk from hotel. Breakfast was a hot & cold buffet affair but the waiters/waitresses were very attentive taking orders for drinks and asking if we wished to order anything from the kitchen. We wished we'd booked room only at the non-cancellation price as it was £40 cheaper than the inclusive of breakfast price. Breakfast was £15.50 pp and we had no intention of cancelling. Before booking we'd taken into account the £10 parking fee (as mentioned on other reviews) but did witness that the front desk didn't ask for proof that someone asking for an exit card is a guest, so not sure if it actually stops non-guests from parking in there. Walking distance to cathedral, shops, river, parks, restaurants - that's why we picked this hotel. We paid more than we would normally as it was for a special occasion. Only minor downside was to come back to the car covered in tree pollen and bird poopie. Would definitely recommend and return to.

Central location

All staff friendly, and helpful. Room change made without any problem for a larger suite to accommodate the bride and entourage, and with a complementary bottle of wine. The half price buffet breakfast was delicious. Would have been helpful to have a sample dinner menu on the website. Would stay here again and recommend.
