Convenient for city centre

Posted 15-Jul-2014
Pros: Dinner was lovely, particularly as we were very well looked after by Melanie. The food was tasty, reasonably priced & my food allergy no problem.
Cons: Biscuits to have with tea or coffee would be nice, but otherwise no complaints!
Location: Great position for Exeter city centre.
Stayed one night for university graduation. The hotel was busy for graduation week, but staff were well organised and helpful. Our room was clean, a good size and had all we needed; good sized bathroom, comfortable bed etc. It was really useful being able to leave the car in the hotel car park for the day. Unfortunately, we did not have time to try out the pool.

Central location

All staff friendly, and helpful. Room change made without any problem for a larger suite to accommodate the bride and entourage, and with a complementary bottle of wine. The half price buffet breakfast was delicious. Would have been helpful to have a sample dinner menu on the website. Would stay here again and recommend.

Birthday Break

Posted 12-May-2014
Pros: Friendliness, cleanliness and spa facilities.
Cons: Free parking for residents.
Location: Exeter Cathedral, Caves, Quay and plenty of other attractions including Woodlands nearby.
Easy to find, pleasant helpful staff at check in, clean and appealing décor. Helpful reception staff gave us a map of the city and ideas. Wandered around Exeter, returned and used the leisure facilities which were lovely with helpful and friendly staff providing us with towels and able to borrow coins for the locker facilities. Following a swim, sauna & Jacuzzi we got ready for dinner and decided to dine in the hotel as well. Food was plentiful, portions were actually too large for me and I was unable to finish. Bar staff were friendly & we spent a couple of hours drinking before retiring to our room. Breakfast offered plenty of freshly prepared hot food, yoghurts, pastries, cereals and fresh fruit. All in all a very pleasant stay and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel, only down side was having to pay for the parking in their car park.

Nice hotel very close to town centre

Posted 09-May-2014
Pros: Able to park, walk into town. Good facilities
Cons: Rooms too hot. Unable to change the temperature of the room. Set at 24 degrees, too much for a comfortable nights sleep.
Location: Very close to town centre and shops, cathedral and quay area.
Met friends here and walked into town centre for lunch. Very pleasant.

Fantastic staff who went out of theirr way to be helpful. Good breakfast choices. Stayed on business but also had elderly parents and 9 yr old. All loved the hotel and leisure facilities.

Central location...uncomfortable stay

Posted 14-Apr-2014
Check was average limited information given. Had to ask about the parking, wifi, facilities, breakfast times etc etc. information that when I have stayed at other four star hotels has been provided as part of the check in. Bar service was slow and a little impersonal. Didn't take orders correctly. Didn't sort out issue with the card being activated to charge to room. Reception always seemed to be under staffed. Had to wait and wait to be seen. Beds were uncomfortable and room service very slow. Everything seemed to be too much effort. Breakfast was not managed right left waiting and staff didn't even realise we were there.

Lovely hotel in a good location. Great bar area.

Posted 07-Apr-2014
Pros: Good décor and areas to relax.
Cons: Lovely room with a view of the city wall but the bed was really hard and uncomfortable.
Very hard bed. A shame that the booked early morning call did not happen as my daughter had to leave at 9am and it turned into a massive rush.
