Lovely, cosy B & Bwith warm welcome

Posted 21-Oct-2014
Pros: Wonderful breakfast, such friendly, helpful and warm staff, cosy and beautiful rooms, exceptional ambience.
Cons: The only bad points would be that the toilet would not flush properly (although it did the next morning) and the pillows were quite hard.
This B & B is very warm, welcoming and cosy and is only a 5-10 minute walk away from Exeter train station and the city centre. The breakfast and friendliness of the staff is superb.

Quiet quirky basic b&b

Posted 08-Sep-2014
Pros: Very quiet at night; super comfortable bed; good wifi; convenient location
Cons: Shower didn't work (at all); no bathtub; room was very poky; no lift; no parking; breakfast times were inconvenient.
Location: Convenient for motorway, but no parking! Very close to a supermarket if you need anything. Lovely city.
Upsides: Very quiet at night- I got a great night's sleep here; super comfortable bed (if in a very poky room); good wifi; convenient location; clean room with nice decor. Friendly people. Downsides: I was emailed 2 hours prior to check in and told no one would be there and the key would be under the doormat- if I didn't have a smartphone with immediate email access I would have had no idea and simply found the front door locked. The shower in my room didn't work at all, and there was no bath as an alternative. There is no parking, and no lift inside the building. Breakfast was 8-9am every day, which I had to miss in order to get to work in time- overall not a great place for business travellers or those with mobility issues.

City-convenient, Clean VGBreakfast B&B Hotel

Posted 25-Aug-2014
Pros: Convenient location for city & hospital. Good quality, clean, friendly, traditional B&B Hotel serving wonderful breakfast.
Cons: Breakfast is served between 8 and 9 everyday. Some people might appreciate a slight relaxation of times on weekend say 8.30 - 9.30 start on a Sunday.
Location: Convenient for city, hospital, university and buses right outside. We visited Cockington, Dart Farm and Brixham.
A comfortable stay in this traditional B&B, made us very welcome, hotel and specifically our room was immaculately clean and well appointed. Breakfast was outstanding. Parking at rear of hotel is limited but road directly opposite hotel is signposted "P - Triangle Long Stay" charges only applied 8am to 6pm. Very good bus service just outside.

Home away from home

From the moment the door opened to let us in we felt welcomed and at ease. The staff couldn't do enough to help us. Our room was comfortable and "top marks". There were blankets not a duvet on the bed - much better for sleeping . Breakfast was delicious and cooked and presented well. Local knowledge and transport were provided when asked. A great place to stay.

Our booking was not recorded by the Edwardian

Posted 31-Jul-2014
Pros: Not applicable, as our booking was not implemented. However, on the basis of their advert, every aspect of the stay looked as if it would be pleasing.
Cons: The administrative side needs to ensure all bookings are honoured. When mistakes are made, alternatives at no cost to the customer should be offered.
Location: Not applicable, as the Edwardian didn't abide by the booking.
A very disappointing experience for my 85 year old dad. I had booked him in at the Edwardian for my sister's graduation event. My telephone enquiry and a further telephone call by him had been confirmed by the Edwardian's staff, and they kindly offered him a ground floor room and footstool as he was recovering from a knee op. However, on arrival, they had no record of his booking, despite the online booking and payment, and two subsequent telephone conversations about the details of the booking. It was a very unsettling experience, as we all knew that due to the graduation, there was hardly any chance of alternative accommodation. The staff offered to ring around for alternatives, but due to his walking with crutches and being tired after the journey, he preferred not to stay in the city centre. He was later phoned by the staff enquiring whether he had found alternative accommodation. Given his condition, his age, and the failure of the Edwardian to record his booking, I'm very disappointed with the lack of steps taken to offer any recompense as a goodwill gesture of apology eg an alternative future stay free of charge.
