Pleasant place to rest and rejuvenate!

Posted 24-May-2015
Pros: The courtesy, pleasant conversations, good food, pretty and comfortable room-EVERYTHING!!
Cons: I hope we can see the place again to see true look of a pretty old building after the front scaffolding is completed!
Location: The canal is nearby and very entertaining to watch the busy traffic-kayaks, dogs & walkers, joggers, crew teams and SWANS!!
We were worried we would have to hike to the hotel from parking as we had had to do at several places that trip--but were able to park right behind it-first and great impression! The owners were friendly and greeted us warmly-Mike helped my husband with luggage-and tho I would have preferred no stairs due to knee problems, the room was so very clean and pretty, it was worth the climb up o ne flight. Blue and white pretty draperies, lovely antique furniture and decorative items on shelves and mantel-very clean shower/bathroom, it went on to be a quiet night and very comfortable to relax. Breakfast was beautifully served and a nice offering of many items--we felt we were leaving friends when we went off on another jaunt in the morning!

Lovely b and b

Very comfortable room. Shower when on max fluctuated from scalding hot to cold, but was ok on medium. Radiator burnt my leg and say on the toilet. Otherwise great

quaint and friendly but in mild disrepair

Posted 19-Feb-2015
Pros: Friendly and helpful staff, location, price, "authenticity"
Cons: Proper maintenance and repairs would do wonders to improve the experience.
Location: Between the center of town and the hospital.
This old-fashioned B&B was located close to where I needed to be, and the price was right. The style is quaint and somewhat antiquated, the owners are friendly, but a mild feeling of disrepair is pervasive. The toilet in the room did not flush - and apparently it had been the case for a long time, since my insinuations that it should be fixed, were resisted. The window could not be opened - I discovered that it was held to the frame with a single screw. Removing the screw solved the mystery: the window latch did not work, hence, the screw.

Comfortable & friendly

We were made to feel very welcome at the Edwardian. The room was large & comfortable & the breakfast was excellent. I thought the traffic noise might keep us awake but it wasn't a problem at all. The bed was very comfortable & it was a bonus to have sheets & blankets & not a duvet. The B&B was well placed for exploring Exeter. We would happily stay there again.

Dated but comfortable

Posted 22-Dec-2014
Lovely friendly owners and good service. The main thing that could be improved is the decor- I was in an attic room with very dated wallpaper and chintzy ornaments- not my taste! But otherwise, a comfy bed and adequate facilities. Adequate for an overnight stay.

I'll be going back

Posted 15-Dec-2014 on Hotels
This was a lovely place to stay and I fully intend on going back. The hotel was being redecorated, but that didn't detract from my stay. I felt very welcome and had a short, but nice stay. The position was perfect - being opposite a bus stop, and very close to town, without being in the centre. The room was delightful and the breakfast tasty. What more could you ask for.

Adequate but Could be better

Posted 04-Dec-2014 on Hotels
We stayed at The Edwardian for one night as we were visiting our daughter at Uni. The scores on Hotels.com and a Trip Advisor lead us to choose this B&B. The hosts were friendly and welcoming when we arrived, which was unfortunately whilst some building work was being carried out. Overall the building seemed tired and well worn. There was plenty of dust around, although that could well have been due to the building work. The room itself was large, although the decor was in need of attention (peeling wallpaper, dated pictures on the walls). The bed also was extremely soft and in need of replacement. The en suite bathroom also would benefit from an overhaul. The breakfast was efficient and plentiful, served by a very bubbly & friendly chap. Unfortunately the quality was not as we have experienced elsewhere (economy sausage, bacon etc and everything a little grease-heavy for our liking). Overall a perfectly adequate place to stay for the night but could quite easily be improved upon. We were not sure how it merits it's high score.

Lovely, cosy B & Bwith warm welcome

Posted 21-Oct-2014
Pros: Wonderful breakfast, such friendly, helpful and warm staff, cosy and beautiful rooms, exceptional ambience.
Cons: The only bad points would be that the toilet would not flush properly (although it did the next morning) and the pillows were quite hard.
This B & B is very warm, welcoming and cosy and is only a 5-10 minute walk away from Exeter train station and the city centre. The breakfast and friendliness of the staff is superb.
