“awful customer service and hell to find in the dark”
took ages to find this hotel in the car in the dark; address is missleading, and the number I was given is a FAX! called them, and was given completely different street name and directions, and ended up going round and round the one way system for ever. bad signage all round. eventually found it, tired and angry. BE AWARE, Expedia offers you DOUBLE BED, but you get a TWIN. Receptionist no help at all, and "couldn't do anything about it". Said she had no double available, yet when I called 10 mins later on my mobile to enquire about a double room, I was told they had plenty free that night!!!! bad service. They also charge you £5.50 for parking, which isn't mentioned anywhere! No Internet in the bedrooms either. Keep away. Find somewhere smaller who will care about you, not this dont-give-a-dam of a place.
“Great staff, tatty hotel”
Very impressed with the staff, most were very friendly and helpful over and above the call of duty. However the hotel is rather outdated and tatty and both the public and guest rooms are due for an overhaul.
“central Plymouth hotel”
a great hotel, large rooms, reasonable price, central location. Great for visiting students at the Uni. Only slight problem was the small carpark. So we had to juggle parking at Sainsburys and a local multi storey one day. Would ahve liked breakfast to be included in the price!
“comfortable and convenient.”
extremely friendly and helpful staff.hotel is really convenient.within easy walking distances to shops and hoe.need car for other things, but staff will readily give map and directions.room was clean and comfortable, but decor needs updating.lovely breakfast.couldnt fault.would definately stay here again and recommend.
“Comfortable room a short trundle from the station”
A completely flat trundle to the station with no road crossings. Nice comfortable room.
“A nice retro hotel”
A very conveniently placed hotel, close to shopping and restaurants, the train and bus stations, and the public transit hub. The staff were very atttentive, the maintenance crew came within ten minutes of calls to reception. The hotel needs overhauling. The shower control does not work, although the maintenance staff came and worked on it, it still did not work.
“Nice but not 4star”
As the hotel is right by a main road I was thought all I would hear was traffic but gladly say I did not. Also even though the hotel can be done with some redecorating. The curtains really did keep the light out and the bed was super perfect for partner and I. We might go back just for that. My main problem is the cost of things there e.g. £2.50 for a bucket of ice or nealry £7 for a vodka and coke! I am used to hotel prices being a tad more expensive but I feel that was just silly. The staff are very nice and helpful, even if there a few members that let the team down with a snobby attiude and when ever I rang room service I had problems getting someone to pick up the phone. The locxation is city center which is great and a taxi to the hoe area is about £5 which is nice walk but not in heels!
“Copthorne Hotel Plymouth”
The Plus point is the location at the top of the shopping mall in the centre of Plymouth, The real negative point is the lack of parking and the appalling traffic problems as a whole in getting to the Hotel. I had to pay to park in Sainsburys carpark and drag my luggage to the reception on the first floor to find out that parking was extreamly limited and none was availble, this was at 2.00pm on a saturday afternoon. My car had to be parked in three different carparks because all local carparks had a maximum 2 hr stay. Overall this hotel apart from the parking is in a real tired state of repairs, I would rate this hotel a 3 star rather than a four, and thats being generous
“Nice”
Good service and a comfortable room. Other than not much light in the bathroom, very nice.
“the heart of plymouth in style and comfort for the less advantaged money wise”
the hotel was generally a pleasant surprise as the price quoted was pretty low we didn't expect such a good room. service and facilities were up to standard and the location was definitely prime! it's got a nice bar, restaurant and for the savers a supermarket right next to it.
