“A fantastic hotel”

This is a hotel in the finest traditions of an English seaside hotels. The staff are wonderfully helpful and freindly, the food is of a hih standard as are the rooms and facilities. I would throughly recommend this hotel to anybody visiting the beautiful Torquay area.

“A lovely treat”

Lovely room, very high ceilings. Comfortable bed, clean. We loved the view and huge stone balcony. Free range eggs for breakfast. Shower was extremely powerful, not ideal if you are a bit of a waif!! Shower curtain got rather attached to me and the extractor fan wasn't working. Despite these gripes, the whole experience was great with lovely staff and gorgeous lounge areas. Highly recommend the hotel

“Excellent Hotel”

Very traditional English hotel slightly stuck in a bygone era but that adds to its charm, great wine list and restaurant very friendly and helpful staff - thoroughly recommend.

“Beautiful hotel with superb service in a lovely location”

My daughter and I stayed at the Grand Hotel, Torquay in April 2007. The decor was lovely and the lounge bar and restaurant had fantastic views over Torbay. The staff could not have been more pleasant and helpful. The food was good. I am usually able to find fault at the best of times but I cannot think of anything bad to say about this hotel!

“Comfortable relaxing stay”

Stayed four nights with my wife, we wanted a comfortable hotel where we could get good room service and just lie around relaxing on the bed, and for this the Grand was perfect. The food was great (if quite pricey) and the service very friendly and efficient in a low-key way (especially the chambermaids, who always seemed willing to cheerfully work around our schedule), our room was very comfortable and had a beautiful view over the bay. On the down side it's a long walk to the town center, the exterior decoration needed a lick of paint, and the TV in our room was very small and old fashioned. But overall it's a great hotel for a relaxing break.

“Satisfactory hotel, could have been better.”

Hotel near to beach and within walking distance to Torquay center/harbour along seafront. Beautiful views from the hotel. Swimming pools lovely. Reception staff were very friendly although requests had to be chased up - every day we said we did not want the evening turn down service but this was still done! Breakfast very good, nice choice and quality of food. Evening meal appauling (honestly the worst we have ever had) it was very expensive, awful food and very poor service - waited over an hour to be served and staff rude. Rooms have good facilities and are spacious, but noisy at night as on the main road. Would not return again as the price of hotel was higher and service not as good as hotels we have stayed in with a lower star rating.

“Sea View”

Good views and location but hotel disappoints particularly for rates charged. Tired and dated hotel, check-in takes several attempts to obtain room with the required spec paid for in advance. Good breakfast and pleasant waiting staff but unable to sit by window to take advantage of sea view as tables set for dinner.

“Faulty Towers”

This hotel is by far the worst hotel i have stayed in.The staff were very helpfull and changed our room as i refused to even sleep in it.The rooms were very tired, old and dated. This hotel has such potential, the views are superb. I would not stay here again nor would i eat/sample the food. Seeing the general upkeep of the hotel which was on public display, heaven knows what the kitchen must be like. The room had all the basics needed and the parking was great. Staff were friendly and accomodating. But my experience of the cliff hotel left me feeling anxious, dirty and very disappointed.Such a shame.
