“nice hotel”
very nice hotel, we will be back
“Disappointing room, but fantastic views, bars and hotel facilities.”
Amazing views. Excellent breakfast. Modern reception, bar and restaurant. Room was dated, basic and in need of updating.
“"Blissful stay at the Barclelo, Torquay..."”
Wonderful sea view from the hotel made this an amazing trip. Clean and well organised dining area's. Helpful and laid back staff.
“Really good hotel and nice location”
hi, Its really good hotel everything nice in hotel. this is first time in my life I am satisfied with hotel and customer service was excellent. really good.
“Casey & Karen From VA”
This hotel must have been special in its day. The rooms are extra large, the facility is grand, but a little dated. The staff was great, but Vicky the Front Desk Person was wonderful and delightful. The parking fee was a surprise and the spaces were very small. The free wireless internet was for only 30 minutes. I was prepared to pay for 24 hours of internet, but was informed if I logged out; I would not be able to log back in. That great view of the sea and hotel in the photo was nice, but that is the back of the hotel and you cannot access the beach from the hotel. My wife and I are in our early 50's, the area around the hotel hosted a lot of teens and 20 somethings. There was a lot of drinking and kids just having fun. I think my kids would have enjoyed the area more then my wife and I. During the day, there were a number of nice shops and dinning facilities to enjoy, but we spent our time with my wife’s family in the area. Dinner at the hotel was very expensive, but very nice. Breakfast was a little expensive as well, so we dined out off the premises at some very nice restaurants for half the price. You will need a vehicle if you stay at this hotel. On a whole, the hotel was very nice. I don't think you will find a nicer hotel in the area. Casey and Karen from Virginia PS: Bring your own wash cloth. Great towels, even a towel warmer, but no wash clothes.
“Beautiful and romantic”
Our only problem with the Imperial was its location at the top of a VERY steep hill. No option of shuttle down (and more importantly UP) from the hotel to Torquay proper.
“Leisure club reception unfriendly”
We had a rear room which is what we paid for,no aircon room got extremely hot even leaving windows open 24hrs.Noisy at rear coaches and lorries. If you can afford it always go for seaview rooms with balcony,£40 per night supplement rather expensive but worth it. Found staff at indoor pool and leisure club, unhelpful and unfriendly. Outdoor pool a bonus when open, seem to be shut off when shortage of staff Position of hotel excellent, for all amenities.
“Not impressed”
We were on a wedding party and the service was very slow in the bar and the reception. The window was broken in our room and we couldnt close it to shut out the noise from a nearby generator which didnt stop all night. Staff shortgages at reception and the bar and also a phone was lost around the pool and was not returned. The location was brilliant though with lovely views and nearby the town. Breakfast cost extra £52 for 2 days for 2 people and the car park is an extra £7 per night not good.
“Some good, some not so good!”
The hotel is a little tired and many of the staff do not speak English well, or if they do they don't want to speak to visitors! So friendliness and a welcome are not at the top of the list: nevertheless the hotels location is good and the view3s fro the rooms are great.
“never visit again”
Hotel needs refurbishment big time especially dining room balcony lifts etc Staff need training on customer service everywhere other than reception Breakfast is pretty mundane tea and coffee served from a flask instead of individual pots Not value for money A special birthday and would rather have stayed at home Did not dine in i the evening as a poor choice of menue and over priced
