Very nice hotel

Posted 25-Mar-2015
Pros: We liked the cleanliness and the location.
Location: We visited Exeter to be near my sister, the hotel was the ideal location for that and the shops and the lovely cathedral.
We stayed at this hotel because of its location which was close to everything. It was a nice room, comfortable and very clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The only negative was that the safe did not work.

The only plus point is the fantastic location

Pros: You step out of the hotel, and all that the city of Exeter has to offer is within walking distance.
Location: You can walk to the shops, and restaurants, and to the river, and you are located right in front of the Cathedral.
We booked a twin and although our booking quoted us the twin room rate, the booking went through as a double. The shower water flow was very poor and was crying out for a water pump. The bedroom had no sound insulation and we could hear everything the chap next door was doing. When we went to check out, there was someone else's drinks, and someone else's breakfast, on our bill. I think that this might be because the staff were not asking customers to sign for things, and so they had left themselves wide open to customers billing goods and services to other people's rooms. The hotel was covered in scaffolding and so the view of the cathedral which the hotel boasts about, was not available. The cafe was also closed for renovation. A memo advising me about all of this was sent to me at 9pm on 18/02/15, *after* I had arrived and checked in, and unable to change my booking, or set my expectations! The email referred to the highlights of the hotel such as a reference to "the most comfortable Vi-Spring bed you will ever sleep on". In fact, the bed was so worn out that it was like sleeping on a bouncy castle. When I got close to the edge (where people would sit), I would almost topple right out. Luggage "left at reception" is literally just left a reception (not even behind). There is no security at all. Unless the hotel is "on a deal", I would give this hotel a miss. The Premier Inn in Exeter is much better and has a breakfast bundled rate, unlike the ABode.

伝統的なホテル

Posted 28-Jan-2015
Pros: 立地条件
Cons: 段差をなくして欲しい
Location:

Lovely hotel but a 5 min walk to the car park

Posted 23-Jan-2015 on Hotels.com
Lovely hotel on the square directly opposite to the cathedral, therefore no passing traffic. Surrounded on either side by restaurants if you don't want to eat at the hotel. My one problem, which was not a good start to my stay, was the parking - there isn't any! Based on how I filtered the hotels, I wrongly assumed that there was parking attached or next door to the hotel, but it's a 5 minute walk from the hotel, (Mary Arches Street Car Park, cheaper rate if you let the hotel know that you've parked there). I was able to park briefly outside the hotel and unload my bags before parking but it was more inconvenient after checking out dragging the luggage back to the car, unless you want to pick up the car and drive back to the hotel first. I know it seems like a petty gripe, but it's when it comes as a surprise that made the difference.
