“good location, but thats about it”

We enjoyed the proximity to Comerica Park, but that was about it. If you are looking for a posh, comfortable hotel, this isn't for you. Its a VERY old building, our room was very small, and so was the bathroom. The bathroom window was open a crack and we couldn't get it shut, so the room was very cold during the night. The carpet was stained and dirty and the bed (full size) was very saggy. We parked in the parking garage across the street (Detroit Opera House) and paid $10.00 up front for the event parking. In the morning we couldn't get our car out because we didn't have a ticket to stick in the machine! The front desk of the hotel was very helpful with that. They told us where the security office was for the parking garage, so we were then able to get the car out. Overall, the hotel is a great location if you want to be able to walk to a Tigers or Lions game, but the ammenities are poor.

“cheap & close to everything”

Tisd hotel is considerably less than staying at a casino hotel so the luxury is also lost. However if you enjoy a short walk from Greektown, Comerica, Ford Field etc and not having to drive home intoxicated this place is for you. Honestly the beds are uncomfortable but I'd still stay there again.

“Adequate for the need”

Room was adequate for the needs we had. Traveled to see a Tigers game and did not want to drive home. Very close location only a few blocks from the stadium. Room is outdated. A/C in the window. Window shades not the easiest to operate. Bathroom came with NO supplies. Two towels were the only items supplied. So be sure you bring your own soap, shampoo, etc. Overall for a couple of guys having a night out it served our purpose.

“Avoid winter at all costs”

Great location to local sporting events but avoind going in the winter. Our room had no heat and had to sleep in our winter jackets and gloves. Great in the fall not in the winter.

“Not bad for the price”

Friendly service, the bathroom toilet seat was not clean which was disturbing, otherwise not bad.

“You pay for great location”

The Milner certainly could be a nice hotel. You have to consider one big thing: you are getting what you pay for. The hotel is an affordable room in a great location (near the ballparks and many of the laid back bars/restaraunts) and the staff is very friendly. The room itself is relatively clean but run down. The bed was not the most comfortable. If you travel and spend time in your room, this is not your place. If you are going to a ballgame and use your room for sleeping, slug a few beers at/after the game and you'll sleep just fine.

“You Pay For What You Get”

We attend DEMF every year. Made a last-minute decsion to attend this year. The Historic Milner Hotel had rooms. You pay for what you get. Old hotel was recently remodeled in advance of the Super Bowl. Hotel is more like a hostel than a hotel, but is functional. Has a triangular shaped elevator. Won't want to spend too much time in your room. You're in luck though, because there is plenty around, including Greektown, Hart Plaza, Comerica Park and Ford Field.

“It served it's purpose.”

The hotel is very old but has been updated with window air conditioners and bathtub liners and fixtures and the like. It was 1/4 the price of other hotels during the fireworks celebration and was available. I needed to be able to walk to work because of the street closures and traffic. The staff was very friendly and professional. The room was tiny but clean. I didn't see a single bug except the moth that I accidentally let in the window! This hotel is not for glamor seekers but is affordable and in a great location to walk to anything in Greektown, including both ball fields. I would stay there again for similar circumstances.

“Old, rundown and dirty, but you get what you pay for”

The location is great as you can walk to the baseball and football stadiums plus the opera and fox theatres really easy. Greektown is also a walk away for dinner however the hotel building is really old and there is no care in the presentation except for the lobby or may be one of the updated rooms but you don't get those by booking on here (they cost more and are suites). Whilst the hotel is smoke free and my room had a no smoking sign on the door, my room smelt very heavily of smoke. When I entered the the original 1960s bathroom I found the cause, cigarette ash on the floor. This ash stayed there for the entire 11 days of my stay. I agree that this is a no frills 2 star place but that doesn't mean that it shouldn't be clean and presentable. I had to wait for 5 minutes each morning for hot water to run through the taps and if someone else had a shower or flushed a toilet the water pressure dropped to a small trickle. The breakfast provided is OK, cereals, muffins, danish and of course waffles. There was fruit offered for 4 days but once I finished it, it wasn't offered for the rest of my stay. I would have changed hotels but the hotels policy doesn't allow for refunds once you have entered the building (check in is from 12 on day of arrival, cancellation policy is froom 12 on day of check in is full amount).
