“Will use again!”

I was a little afraid of this hotel. Not knowing anything about it and there not being any reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised! The staff was great and the room was recently remodeled and very clean. The room was small but just what was needed. Great place to stay!

“Please to return”

The location is great and easy to get too. All the Desk Clerks were very pleasant and no problems with registration. When going to your room the appearance of the hall is beautiful and the first thing that came to my mind "How will the room look?" The room was beautiful. I don't know if it is newly revenovated but I do know the room is beautiful with everything working properly. I loved using the steamer, not the iron, takes a little to get use to handling. I was very pleased that Security persons were on and walking around the facility. The breakfast area is small and maybe a little more fruit could be put out. Now, the outside appearance could actually be misleading. Overall, everything was great and "YES" I would stay hear again and do recommend it to others.

“Call ahead for detailed directions.”

I was very satisfied with everything at this hotel other than the directions for finding it. I would advise you to call the hotel directly and get detailed directions as to find it. They will be happy to help you with that. For cleanliness and service they were excellent, especially for the price they charged. I would highly recommend it.

“Great Place, Inconvenient Location”

The hotel may not look like anything special from the outside but the quality of the rooms was very decent. The rooms were clean, spacious, and well-furnished. However, the location of the hotel was inconvenient in that in order to get to any of the adjacent restaurants and businesses, your only option is to get back onto the highway and then immediately change four lanes in heavy traffic to get back onto the strip heading the other direction. This was my only complaint!

“Shocked to find our room was occupied by naked guests!”

The shower is great. The room we finally got was OK too. We surprised two guests that already had our room. I thought is was weird to see the lights on, but more shocked when I unlocked the door to find two people in a comfortable position on our bed. Obviously, very embarassing for both parties. We had to get another room. Bad taste. I did report to the desk and they offered little sympathy, but did get another room.

“Not Overly impressed.”

I was not impressed when I entered the lobby. I thought I had made a huge mistake in picking a place to stay. The lobby had a strong smell of cigarette smoke. It was very small and I found out the free breakfast was going to be served in that same room. Once I arrived at my room and opened the door I was surprised to find a newly remoloded room with granite counter tops and beautifully tiled floors. The shower was not only beautiful but the water tempature and presure was AWESOME. The only thing that wasn't updated was the TV but it worked.

“Questionable credit card practices”

At the time of check in, the receptionist asked me to sign a form authorizing the hotel to charge me a $50 fee if a credit card transaction is disputed. I had a reservation and the room was fully paid in advance. I signed the form since I did not have any other choice. As usual, they asked for a credit card for incidental charges, etc. A few days after my stay, I noticed a suspicious transaction on my credit card statement from the hotel. I should have known that there is such a "dispute" fee probably because too many customers disputed the charges from the hotel (Happy customers do not dispute charges!) The charge was a little less that $50 so I realized I loose a few more bucks if I dispute the questionable transaction. I called the hotel front desk. As expected, getting a refund was not easy. Two weeks and a dozen phone calls later, I got my money back. At the end they admitted it was a mistake on their side. Although the pieces of their plan kind of fit together, I cannot say they acted in bad faith. Maybe it was all just an honest mistake. However, it turned out to be too much hassle for me. Pay a few more bucks and go somewhere more reputable.

“Finding this hotel was like finding a needle in a haystack!!!”

I've been to Southfield many times & would always stay at the Westin. However on this particular date, I arrived at the Westin after spending 10 hrs on the road only to discover there had been a mixup with my reservation & they didn't have my room available. Needless to say I was upset & I was travelling with pets so it's not that easy to just move on to the next 4 star place. I used the business center & went online to do a quick search for pet friendly hotels nearby. At this point, I was so tired that I didn't care about quality. Marvins Garden Inn came up in the search & was just a few mins away from where I was. Although it's not a 4 star hotel with a big fancy lobby & valet parking, swimming pool, etc...the staff were some of the friendliest I've EVER met & I'm on the road 50% of the time (should mention this is the first hotel I've been inclined to write a review about). The room was not huge by any means but it was above average & felt spacious. The bathroom was GORGEOUS! I wish I could renovate my bathroom at home like theirs. In all fairness, I need to mention the couple of negatives also even though the positives far outnumbered these. I was there for a 2 night stay & had to have them switch rooms for me after the first night due to some construction going on in another building behind where my first room was. Second was that I wasn't overly impressed with the comfort of the beds. To me they were just 'ok'. Overall though, I will definitely stay here again!
