“Clean and convenient to downtown restaurants and sports arenas”

Hotel is wonderful (needs a little updating in carpet and plants), and I had the BEST chicken sandwich and fries delivered to my room from adjoining restaurant "fishbones".

“Huge room, nice hotel”

This was a very nice hotel in Detroit. There wasn't a lot to do in the surrounding areas but it was nice.

“Gorgeous room in a fun location!”

I stayed at the Atheneum Hotel for my 30th birthday. Every room is a suite which is perfect for a pre-party in Greektown. The living room, bedroom and bathroom are huge! When we arrived, the bellman took us up to the room and asked if we needed a mini fridge for our room. Of course we said yes, and it was delivered up to us about five minutes later. The hotel is also in the heart of Greektown in Detroit which offers a lot of fun options. Delux, Old Shillelagh, Greektown Casino, Niki's, Fishbones, etc...

“Detroit's Hotel "Gem"!!”

The Atheneum Hotel is one of the best in Detroit for your money. It is situated around the corner from Greektown/Greektown Casino (walking distance). When you walk into the lobby, the Greek themed decor is very inviting and warm with large beautiful pictures and greenery. I absolutely love the rooms...they are all suites with a nice "sitting room" as you walk in with a good size flat screen tv that you can close off to the sleeping area which is 4 steps down with another good size flat screen tv. The bathroom is large with lots of counter space and a nice size tub/shower. This hotel has become my favorite in downtown Detroit...I love it!!

Area recommendations
The hotel is situated near all sporting event venues and theaters...a good place to stay if you're in Detroit for those type of events!!

“It's now our place to stay in Detroit”

With the convenience of the People Mover located near the hotel, we can reach any of the venues we enjoy fast and inexpensively. It's location to Comerica Park and Ford Field make it a sports and travel lovers dream.

“LOVED the staff - recommend to everyone - gorgeous place”

We are very much "country" people and out of the loop on certain protocol. Everyone made us feel special and welcome. They were all so excited for us because we were there for the Paul McCartney concert at Comerica Park. It was a short walk back to the hotel afterwards and was in walking or People mover distance of everything downtown. The rooms were very spacious and luxurious and I definitely look forward to going back sometime.

Area recommendations
Loved all of Detroit. Took the River boat cruise on the Detroit River, ate at Pegasus Greek Restaurant, went to the Casino, walked around sight seeing - had a great time!
Getting around
Loved the People Mover, walked and the taxi drivers were very helpful on just giving info even though we didn't ride:)

“ABSOLUTELY PERFECT FOR A ROMANTIC EVENING!”

The hot tub suite was breathe taking. I took my girlfriend for her birthday and GREAT grattitude was displayed! Absolutely perfect for an I'm sorry gift or a special occassion.

The riverwalk downtown behind GM's headquaters and a stroll through greektown.

Everything is practically walking distance.

“Best overall Hotel I have stayed at in sometime”

We selected this hotel for its downtown location and proximity to a meeting we had in Detroit. Right from check in to check out, we enjoyed every minute of our stay. Staff were polite and helpful, the room was extremely comfortable and well equiped.Good location for a variety of restaurants and bars.

Not sure of the exact neighborhood but this hotel is perfect for a stay in downtown Detroit.

The hotel not that easy to negotiate without a GPS.
