If you are looking for a small, quiet, safe hotel in the heart of Caracas with a cool art deco look, this is a great choice. Our room included breakfast which was a great bargain as food & beverages are very expensive in this city. Taxi from airport can be negotiated; driver wanted $65 worth in Bolivars but US$ will get you for more than half that rate. You MUST have local currency to travel around as Visa & MC are not accepted unless in really expensive stores. ATM's everywhere but useless as they won't take foreign bank cards (even with logos on the machines). Be aware that airport currency exchange folks will not take back Bolivars so you need to really spend as you go and avoid having a surplus. Hotel staff at The Hotel Caracas spoke limited English but were friendly and helpful. Room was spotless and hotel is very well kept. Only odd thing is that there's no private bathroom in any guestrooms unless its a suite; toilet is between sink and glass shower so if you're sharing a room, it could be odd when using the loo. There are private bathrooms on the main floor near reception. Hotel is less than 100 feet from Marriott which their website includes alot of good travel info too and a good reference to taxi drivers. Good Pizza place nearby, huge Simbal mall within 10-15 walk.

The hotel was very nice, food was excellent, is very busy hotel over the weekends but it does not affect your rest at the room. The parking price if you were using a car and staying at the hotel also was a plus. The gym has nothing to envy to other gyms, it has very good equipment.

This will never be a 5 star hotel but we were made welcome and it was clean and tidy. I have given it good scores for the price.
The bonus was that there was an english speaking person to help us check in, which is unusual in venezuela outside a resort.
The breakfast was a toasted cheese and ham sandwich and coffee, which was good and fresh.
It should be noted that there appear to be smoking rooms, but the slight smell is taken away with the air conditioning, which is new and works well.
There seems to be a nightclub next door, but we did not hear it (it was a thursday night)
It is right on the beach, but you may not be as lucky as us with the sea views.
