The hotel was excellent and we would return on another visit. We found the restaurants in the hotel did not have enough casual or light dining. A coffee shop style facility would have been a welcome addition so we could pop in for a light snack in the evening. Otherwise the hotel was superb.

My wife and I had a two day stop over in England. Our general experience with hotels in England has been less than impressive so we were delighted at the Sofitel especially given that it was within the airport complex.

We stayed for four night in a delux double room. Turned out to be a loft type room with fantastic views of the city, castle and river. Staff were always helpful with tourist type questions or anything for that matter. We ate out a lot and found the best value for money to be Pep and Fodder for breakfast each day (turn right at the hotel exit and it is about 4 shops down on the same side of the street) a good breakfast for two was just over 10 pound, excellent daytime eatery. We also had a couple of dinners at Martone - on the corner just down from the Pep and Fodder. Again you can get good meals for two from between 20 and 30 pound. Both breakfast and dinner costs included drinks. Although the hotel menu looked good, for a longer stay it could be expensive. One tip: you have to try the raspberry, mascarpone and balsamic ice cream from Martone, it is heaven.
