Hotels in Japan

I was not sure what to expect from the hotel because I paid very little for it but it had this great location which was my most important consideration to me as a first time Japan traveler. It turns out, that this hotel is excellent value for money. Breakfast was not included, but there are lots of places around where you can get something (there's a nice little place at the station that offers a small breakfast buffet at a reasonable price) nice. The hotel has restaurants on the top-floor (which we did not frequent) and also serves a small breakfast in the lobby. Being next to the station means that there are lots of other stores nearby (seven-eleven with an ATM machine). The hotel is attached to a department store which has several restaurants in the basement and there is a subwalk to the station. This hotel is perfect as a basecamp to explore Kyoto, Osaka, and other places around. Using the train you can get to Osaka in 15-60 min, depending on the type of train you use. We are already planning to visit Japan again and if we go to Kyoto we'll most likely stay there again.
