“Excellent hotel and very friendly staff”
Clean, comfortable, tidy, great area - 10 seconds from Derby train station (literally). I would definitely visit again!
“Stayed in better”
This hotel is a bit of a funny one as the reception staff where very good but some of the auxiliary staff left a lot to be desired. For example we needed a 6am breakfast on a Sunday so we spoke to the reception staff who assured us it was all ok. 6am we headed down to the restaurant and we explained who we were to the night porter, he was very terse with us, even when we said we didn't need anything cooking as we just wanted cereal he said (and I quote) "You weren't going to get one anyway" Towards the end of the breakfast he lightened up but if he had an issue he should have not expressed his annoyance at us. Mr friends were staying on the first and second floor and they looked refurbished however I was staying on the 3rd floor and that is yet to be invested in! Still not sure how to rate this hotel as it's staff has the potential to be much better.
“Pros and Cons”
My room (215) was perfectly adequate – not very spacious, but OK for one person on a business trip, and the bathroom was clean with an excellent shower. It’s in other areas that the hotel falls down. The dining room and other public areas are in a shabby condition, and the single lift is like a service elevator. And while most of the staff were pleasant, an air of quiet desperation hangs over the place, and there was one individual whose unprofessional demeanour and terrible BO really put me off my breakfast. I didn’t eat dinner in the restaurant – put off by the observation that nobody else was – but I would recommend the buzzing Italian next door (Antibo’s).
“Disappointed in hotel but found excellent restaurents & old fashionede sweet shops”
Car park was in side road at hotel rear but not signposted. Had to get out & ask for directions.Front of house was a mixture of decorating styles and look cluttered. The bar area was dull and unwelcoming especially as the heavy meaty smells from the restaurant (aka carvery) pervaded it. Not good for us veggies. Our room really only was suitable for 1 person. Small wardrobe and we originally were only given 1 set of towels. 2nd set took several hours to arrive. Tiny shower cubicle.1st morning breakfast was waiter service & my husband had to chase his order (scrambled eggs) after 20 mins.
“OK”
Stayed for 2 nights. Room was ok but very warm, the window didn't open very far. Close to city centre for shopping and good base for visiting other places.
“good all round hotel”
good clean hotel that wont break the bank,in a brilliant location
“Great value for money”
Excellent location very close to Derby station; easy access in and out of Derby and sensibly close to East Midlands Airport. Very friendly staff - not a problem with me arriving late in the evening. I would definitely stay here again.
“Legacy Aston Court - great staff”
cons: - mattresses were a bit past their prime - a dripping tap in the bathroom was fairly loud, but we were able to sleep fine if we put a towel around it. - it was 36 steps up a narrow staircase to our room. Let them know in advance if you have any mobility issues. pros: - the staff were just great - really good breakfast included - most rooms do not require you to climb 36 stairs - the bathroom was very large and nicely done, with lots of light. I love the radiator/towel holder. Good water pressure in the shower. - right across the street from the train station - 10 minutes walk from a huge shopping centre - free wireless internet
“Good stay”
The hotel is showing its age a little, but is comfortable, clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good, bed was comfortable, shower OK (watr temp varied a little). We'd happily go back. Excellent value for money
“Would NOT recommend this hotel”
This hotel was quite cheap, BUT... We were kept waiting 10 minutes at reception due to a phone booking with no hint of an apology during or after the delay. The room was basic but clean, the bathroom and shower were good. No air conditioning though and the bed and pillows were uncomfortable. We had to wait 15 minutes to be seated for breakfast. The crockery and cutlery were not clean and service was slow.
