My choice of hotel in Derby

Posted 22-Feb-2015
I go to the football in Derby - not every fortnight but as much as I can. If I cannot get into the Hallmark (Midland) I am disappointed. I have tried a few others but this is my favourite Nice rooms, great staff and lovely breakfast One small criticism - they could get better loo roll but otherwise I would highly recommend this hotel

Uncomfortable & substandard

Posted 18-Dec-2014
Pros: Public area.
Cons: Bedrooms need updating and definitely need new mattresses.
Location: Conveniently located for Derby station and the city centre.
Stayed one night only for a Christmas party. General bar/public area was pleasant but the bedroom was dated and tired. The mattress was very uncomfortable, old and extremely hard. Although one of the first to eat at breakfast the food was tasty but cold.

Christmas Break

Posted 16-Dec-2014
Pros: Its location - so easy to find and it's comfortable.
Cons: Not that we use it much but a full range of freeview TV channels (and radio) would be appreciated.
Location: Where to start? Use the tourist board and get walking. Locally the Brunswick Arms is probably my favourite pub in the country. Good restaurants too.
This was a return to Derby for the third year running and we always use the Hallmark. There's a lot to see and do in the city and as for the pubs - heaven!

Does all it says on the tin

Nice ambience of classic building. Large room. Warm and not too hot. Comfy bed. Second floor room was remarkably quiet. Large bathroom. Prefer shower cubicle but this worked fine. Nice stairs. Good lift. Dinner and breakfast ok but not special. Food a bit pricey for what it was. Service pleasant and good. Suited me very well. Came on advice of friends who has been pleased.

Bumped

Posted 21-Nov-2014 on Hotels.com
I was informed upon arrival that the hotel was over booked and I was bumped to a hotel in Pride Park. No attempt was made at reparation and there was no apology. The staff claimed to have been trying to contact me all day. A check of my phone showed they had rung once at 1715 whilst I was driving up from London. The call lasted 3 seconds and I was not aware it had taken place.

Nice hotel and great location very close to the train station. The rooms are a little Dated now but very clean and I would stay again for the price .

The hotel to be in Derby

Posted 20-Oct-2014 on Hotels.com
In front of the train station, but also with a private car park if you arrive by car. Nice rooms, big bathroom, lovely restaurant on the ground floor. My hotel in Derby

This is going to be my location in Derby

Posted 16-Oct-2014 on Hotels.com
Just in front of the train station, this hotel has new furbished room with a nice mix of modern and traditional design. Rooms are wide, comfortable, and not noisy at all. 8 to the restaurant on the ground floor. I will stai here again
