Great decor in my room- double with single occupancy- and very comfortable bed. Really liked the sense of history around the place. Usually stay in a Premier Inn when I come to the area- can’t see that I will go back there after this stay at Makeney.

I couldn't have asked for more from my one-night stay. The location of Makeney Hall was perfect for my needs, with errands to run nearby over a couple of days plus a football match in Derby on the night, so it was nice and accessible. The room was clean and comfortable, quiet too, all the staff I spoke to while I was there were friendly and helpful.

Lovely large room with a great view. Breakfast was very disappointing…mushrooms hardly cooked anemic and general quality and lack of availability spoilt our morning. We expected better given its an extra cost. Would definitely stay again as hotel is gorgeous but would be good if the hotel can improve its breakfast service. Thanks

A lovely Hotel, only comment is that is quite large and obviously expensive to heat so was cold. The Room did have an additional blow heater but the Restaurant and Bar needs to be warmer in cold weather

This is a lovely building with many original features, set in beautiful and well-kept grounds. I just found the room a little small, the taps in the bathroom, very annoying and the fan noisy. Breakfast was also disappointing.

Disappointing visit!
The hotel itself is nice; our welcome by Reception staff was good, and check-in was quick and easy. We booked an Executive Twin Room. The bedroom was nicely decorated, however the bathroom was in need of an update as well as a thorough clean! Blue liquid was on the back of the bathroom door and across the back of the bath, and dust had gathered on the back of the door, clearly visible when it was closed. There were cobwebs and a dead spider above the shower too. The mattresses were pretty hard and the pillows could have been better quality, and a nice touch would have been to provide dressing gowns in the closet. The service in the bar was pretty bad too - I tried three times on my first visit to the bar to locate somebody to serve us, eventually going to Reception, and then was completely ignored for 4-5 minutes on the second visit by staff working in the restaurant until I had to go inside and ask if anyone was serving. All in all a pretty disappointing visit, especially for a hotel that is not inexpensive!

I am sorry that you were disappointed with your stay. Poor cleanliness is definitely not acceptable and I will be bringing this up with my housekeeping team. Unfortunately pillows and mattresses can be very subjective, so always difficult to please all. The service in the bar should not have been so slow and again I will bring this up with the team. We do provide bathrobes in our Junior Suites and Suites. I am sorry again that you were disappointed but I hope you will give us a second chance in the future.

I booked the wrong day due to my dyslexia and I made the staff aware. They made no effort to assist me to change it so I paid over £100 to not stay in a hotel. I love being disabled in the UK it's the best

Comfortable property and good value rooms in a nice setting. Friendly staff. Would say some of the furniture and fittings a little bit tired, but well maintained and spotlessly clean. No issues and would stay again.

Also we do have 2 menus, to give a wide variety and price brackets, I am sorry if you were only shown 1, as bot menus should begiven to all. This was our second stay at Makeney. Well maintained, beautiful Hotel set in incredible, picturesque grounds. Staff were friendly and efficient and the food was excellent. Great value all round.
