Great value for money.
The place was great, especially for money. Comfortable bed, helpful staff. The only problem I had was the smell on arrival... like some very strong smelling air freshener? We had to open the window to let it air out. I'm guessing it's something they use to clean the floor, but if you have a sensitive nose, prepare yourself for some window opening. Also marble floor in bathroom becomes very slippery since whole bathroom gets fully covered in water from shower.

Average hotel. Stayed in a room next to the staff office which had a window looking into our bathroom, very noisy. Staff tried to sell guide services for Delhi at check in despite being told it wasn't needed, not what you want after 16 hours travelling. Have to get taxi or metro to all main areas of Delhi from here. Would be better off staying closer to Connaught Place.

decent midprice hotel in Old Delhi
The staff are superb--always willing to help. Prompt service. Clean, decent but not luxurious. Stayed there 6 nights and my meals at night cost me $5 a night. Great food. Hot full breakfast off the menu. Try the cheese omelette covered with a piece of white bread on top and bottom.

the hotel is a nice retreat from the hectic everyday life of Delhi. The staff are accomodating and arent pushy or pushing for tips. The rooms are quite cheap and the value for money is great. The shower was the best i had in India. The free breakfast is convenient and good quality.

Great choice for price-cozy, well-executed.
As other reviews state, a bit hard to find on its street, but once found, an oasis for your stay in Delhi. Cozy rooms with wood panelling on walls and ceilings. TV, fridge, safe and good sized bathrooms. Very comfy bedsheets and comforters. Breakfast in cozy basement where staff can help you with all things you need - hospital, getting to Taj, using the metro, nearby stores, trustable taxis and auto drivers. You'll feel in good hands at this well conceived, well run property. Not the cheapest, but a great value.

Really Convenient Hotel that is very Welcoming
Really convenient hotel in the Karul Bagh area of New Delhi. Easy place to relax and be yourself. Simple hotel with really attentive service. Left some shopping behind and they were friendly enough to pop this in the post for me. In short nothing is too much trouble for them.

A return to Wood Castle
This was my second visit to Wood Castle. Feels like home, comfortable, clean, friendly and helpful. An ideal place for travellers to start your travels, including solo travellers like myself, male or female. You are safe as can be here.

Very good w.r.to the cleanliness and service. Locating the hotel is bit difficult. Sign boards are helpful. Wi-Fi not available in the rooms. If that is available in the room best place to stay.

Its clean and tidy with happy staff. ill be back.
Its just how all the other reviews said it would be. clean rooms with a good hot shower in a quiet family neighbourhood. tasty meals at a fair price. close walking distance to trains and other transport. I stayed 3 nights and had 2 rooms with 4 other guests and all were happy. the staff are happy and eager to please i would stay at woodcastle again.

This was a very nice find for Delhi. The hotel is small, clean and on a quiet street, for Delhi, and reasonably priced. It is close to a metro station if you can learn to navigate the system

Nice rooms. Food is great, beer is cheap. WiFi only works in the lobby. Very hard to find. Two separate cabs needed to ask for directions. A good place to stay -if you can find it!

Nice hotel, excellent staff
I very much enjoyed my stay at Wood Castle. The room was clean and comfortable, and the location was good, in that the hotel was close to the metro, making it easy to get around Delhi. Best of all, though, were the hotel staff. They were friendly, attentive to the guests' needs, and overall extremely helpful. I would stay here again.

A slight confusion due to cultural differences with our daughter. For westerners if you expect an extra mattress in the room then you need to state that specifically and not think that putting a four year old will necessarily ensure placement. The confusion was resolved quickly and certainly to my satisfaction. The place was as expected eg it was down a side street with a combined sitting area, reception and dining area. The room was clean, serviceable and respectable. And safe. We were kindly given an upgrade and the room was interestingly decorated and it took us awhile to work out how to turn the lights off for the head board. Best of all was the return trip nearly a week later where we had even better service. We arrived with a bag of clothes covered in vomit as our daughter had been travel sick and they took them away to be laundered at a great rate. They even played down the expectation and I was expecting them back wet. When our car service let us down they had someone available immediately and if I'd known they had a car I would have done that from the start. And at a very reasonable rate. Thank you. A real pleasure. Stayed July 2014

good hotel located in quiet street of karol bagh.
Neat, clean and tidy hotel. Rooms near the staircase and entrance might make you feel little uncomfortable as staff voices are audible. Wi-fi signals were fluctuating for unknown reasons. Food unreasonably expensive....courteous staff. Karol Bagh metro station is a 5 minutes walk. Overall good hotel not great.. definitely recommended.

Pleasant Surprise!
The neighbourhood is two-star and the hotel facade is three-star, but I give four stars to the front-door design, four stars, to service, and almost five stars to our Superior room for its decor and attention to comfort and convenience. For example, not only was shower hot water room-controlled, mixing water temperature was a breeze, there was a big direct overhead shower-head, and powerful overhead and exhaust fans ensured superb washroom ventilation. There was an overhead room-fan plus an efficient AC unit for good air cooling and circulation, bottled water was provided every day, and room service was efficient. The "dining room" is small and is combined with the office space but this was more than compensated for by the freedom to choose anything from the breakfast menu versus being restricted to the American etc. options.The stains to the top could be daunting for some. Also, I quibbled with the manager about the fact that Wifi was available only in the lobby and not in the room as promoted. I fully recommend.

Excellent value for our money!
We loved our time at this small hotel. When you arrive at the reception desk, the first impression is of a very modest hotel. However, you are very surprised by the rooms that are first class, with nice furniture and decor. They are very clean and comfortable. The staff are very friendly and we felt very much at ease having our breakfast and dinner there. We would go back there with no hesitation!

GREAT hotel in nice location
I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel (we stayed 6 days). We had stayed in several other hotels throughout northern India that were double the price, and were half as clean and friendly as this hotel. As far as what westerners expect from a hotel, this one has it. Super clean, great facilities, hot showers, basic but satisfactory free breakfast, AWESOME staff. They were incredibly helpful and polite. It's in a nice location that is probably relatively quiet compared to other areas in New Delhi. The metro stop is just a couple blocks away, and even when coming back at night we felt pretty safe.

Comfortable escape from city chaos
My boyfriend and I stayed at Wood Castle the night before we were to fly back to Australia, and it was a pleasure. I had initially been a little sceptical about how good it could be, because the rates were so reasonable, but any doubts were soon put to rest. The rooms are a good size and comfortable, with private bathrooms, complete with a hot shower - hooray! It was nice and quiet at night, felt like a bit of an escape from the surrounding chaos of the city. The service from staff was great. They were very helpful in giving us directions to the closest ATM, markets and even walked us down to a local restaurant for dinner. We were able to easily book a car to take us to the airport. No wi-fi access in rooms, says there is downstairs but I had trouble connecting, but there's a computer downstairs in reception that is available to use instead. Would recommend.

Lived up to all expectations!
I cannot fault this hotel. I had read good reviews and found that they were all very well justified. The room was very well appointed with lots of little extra you would not normally find it a hotel of this price range. Actual the hotel is unusual in the the rooms are much nicer than the actual lobby, entrance area.. Not that there is anything wrong with the lobby - it is just small and a bit crowded but they have made the best of the space. The staff are lovely and we ate a lunch there which was very nice and the breakfasts quite adequate and following the norm of other places we stayed in in India. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting New Dehli. We were a mature couple but there was also a family with young children and another group of young people that we saw while we were there. Our room was quiet which was important to me!

Excellence at reasonable rate
Rooms are tasteful, comfortable, even luxurious. You get much more than your money's worth. Everything works perfectly including many TV channels, films in English, and free wifi. Staff are most helpful, attentive and pleasant. The atmosphere is a relaxing home in which you are made most welcome but it is run as an efficient professional outfit: an ideal combination. It is located in a convenient and quiet area, bordering a lively market area just off centre, with ready access to major tourist sites by auto rickshaw and metro. Highly recommended.

Pros: - Friendly and helpful staff who speak pretty good English. - Great food. The meals here were so good that I even came back for dinner one night after I had checked out! - A few minutes walk from the metro. (Warning: You may be approached on your way to the station by touts or drivers eager for your money.) - Room was clean and comfortable, if not especially big. Cons: - Wi-Fi is not available in the rooms, but only in the lobby downstairs. - No elevator, so you may have to walk up and down several flights of stairs.

Excellent place to stay.
The staff is very friendly, very helpful. There is a family atmosphere where everyone is at ease. The room we had was very clean and nicely decorated. It did not look like a hotel room but more like a guest room in a house. We really enjoyed our stay in this hotel. Should we go back to Delhi, this is where we will stay.

Delhi Delight - Just fantastic
I have just spent one day at Wood Castle and i understand why it receives such excellent reviews. I only had a brief meeting with the owner Rajesh but i could see straight away that he was very genuine in his welcome - such a warm person full of life . Same goes to the gentleman who checked me in ( very sorry i did not get your name) . If you want a driver / tourist guide - There is no better than Javed . Take Javed's advise its worth it. I had Room 300 It was clean and eveyrthing was working . I love the reception area in the basement - Fantasic , You can actually spend hours there chatting away . The basement reception area seems to be the place to be in the evening especially if Rajesh is on site. I will certainly come back again to Wood Castle and no doubt make time to have a punjabi style evening with Rajesh . Food was delicious - Please try the indian breakfast called allo parantha ...Its the best parantha i have tasted. For the price you pay for the room you will not be disapointed . A very homely, relaxing , fun place to stay in Delhi.

A little bit further from town, but close enough to the Metro to not make it much of an issue, and rooms better than in the 4* Royal Plaza hotel I was staying in earlier in the week at much less than half the price. Wifi in the rooms would be nice, but at least there is free wifi in reception. Best of all are the staff though, very friendly, very helpful and lots of fun (especially if you are watching the cricket with them)

Loved Wood Castle
Highly recommended for families, they make you feel homely the difference between staying in a commercial hotel and Wood Castle is quiet distinct. Conveniently located near Karol Baugh Metro Station. Fairly priced for New Delhi Standards

Nice Hotel! Don't let the outside fool you!
Don't let the outside fool you, this is a nice place to stay. It is sortof tucked away in a back alley (so bring good directions to get there), but the inside is very nice and very clean. The staff is very helpful and professional. There is free internet in the common area and free breakfast (mostly it is cereal and toast, but hey, its free). The room was very clean, with TV, a fan, hot water..all the necessities. Will definitely recommend!

Extremely warm, friendly, relaxed, welcome. Lovely staff. Manager speaks good English. Simple breakfast served down in the cosy reception room, which has sofas and coffee The rooms were clean and comfortable, not huge but certainly big enough, and no window, as such, in our top floor room. However, that was a blessing given the noise of Delhi. It wasn't actually a noisy area but in a middle-class type of residential area, with schools and houses nearby. This made for a pleasant stay although there wasn't much in the way of restaurants nearby. However, most importantly, arrange for airport pick up, whatever you do, as it is really hard to find this place, tucked away as it is. And ask the staff for the address, or a clear map with landmarks to show tuk-tuk or taxi drivers. The metro is about ten minutes walk away, and very easy to use.

Great hotel with great links to Karol Bagh Metro
Ideally situated away from the hustle and bustle, with good transport links to the whole city. Instead of walking along the busy road towards the metro walk through the gated residential area to prevent the constant offers for tuk tuks. Safe place to stay, friendly staff and Breakfasts will set you up for the day, Indian or continental. We ate at the hotel on the first evening and the food was good and plentyful. If you need any help with transport, trips or eateries there is a chap called Jack who will help you out with questions.

Convenient
Regarding location - quite place yet close to city center and to metro. The staff is very nice - my son had a birthday on the day we stayed there and when we returned to the room, the door was decorated with many baloons - very nice surprise! Will definately go there again when I am in Delhi
