Central Delhi: Central Delhi has scores of reminders of British rule in India and numerous historic monuments can be viewed here. At its core, the majestic Rajpath runs from the grand Rashtrapati Bhavan in the west, to the India Gate war monument, designed by Edwin Lutyens, in the east. The National Museum is situated south of the central junction. Connaught Place, a flourishing commercial center, lies to the north of Central Delhi. Most of the airline offices, travel agents, and banks are here. In Central Delhi, tourists can stroll through ancient structures and even the Delhi Zoo, close to the Purana Qila. Central Delhi offers shopping experiences from the stylish to the bargain basement, with cafes and restaurants that suit the general business crowd as well as international visitors. Other prominent places in the area include Chandni Chowk and Pahar Ganj.
