“Not great”

We had just got off the train from Agra at 22:30 and wanted a cheap room for the night near New Delhi station just for a few hours as we were leaving at 07:00. After a few minutes in a tuk tuk from the station we found the hotel and the staff were very friendly and even carried our bags to the room. The room is basic as expected, had to ask for more bedding as the sheets weren't very clean. Didn't fancy trying the shower as was very basic and hot water took ages to come. Would only recommend this hotel if you are a regular backpacker or want a very very cheap room for a night's sleep (not a good night's sleep mind you due to noise!).

“Not worth the money you pay”

Despite the fact it looked nice on the photos in reality it turned out really bad. We ordered pick up at airport, but it took 4 phone calls to the hotel and waiting outside for 1 hour to driver arrive and pick us up. It is not worth the money you are paying. The good thing was - it was close to the New Delhi Railway Station, so if you are planning to stay for one night, then it can be OK.

“BEDBUGS ALARM! Stay away from this place”

My stay in Hotel Ashiana was a horrible experience and I would not recommend it to anyone! First, I had to wait 2 hours for the driver and eventually call the hotel (at my cost) to resolve this problem. The staff was really unfriendly and unhelpful. There are plenty of people siting all the time at the reception without any particular reason (they are not guests). The rooms are ugly. The first one we got had some insects in the bathroom and no window so we asked for replacement. What we got was even worse! My room (it was called deluxe) had no window (it is a standard in this hotel) and the AC (which I paid for) was broken so the room was extremely hot (I would say at least 40'C). What was really horrible was the fact that when I woke up I found bedbugs all over me and I had bites everywhere! Now I fear that I could have taken them with me to my house. The staff just ignored me when I complained about this in the morning (not even a word or a blink of an eye as a response) I stayed in many places in India, in different cities. This one was the most expensive one (between 3 and 7 times more expensive than my other hotels) so I expected something nice. What I got was like a bad dream. This was the worst stay I have ever had in my life. If you consider this place as a budget option, think how much money you will have to spend to get rid of bedbugs. It can be extremely difficult.

“Horiible, horrible, horrible!”

On arrival the hotel room can only be explained as dire - whilst expecting basic the room was awful, nothing like in the picture when booking. It was dirty, depressing and not at all what we expected. In fact it was so bad we checked straight out and stayed at the Grand Godwin around the corner, which wasn't much more expensive and had lovely clean rooms, a nice rooftop restaurant amd friendly helpful staff. We also stayed at Hotel Krishna on our return to Delhi which was and a little luxury after the 7 hour 3rd class train journey from Amritsar.
