“Makai Hotel is the Best hotel to stay if you have kids like me the are kids friends .”
We are very happy to stay in this hotel, special when you have 9, 7, 4 years old kids, no one accept you to stay in any hotel. Makai isn't is good hotel I recommend.
“Bad deal for the $”
We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights. The floor in our room was extremely damp, water was dripping down the walls.Elevator was being worked on and not able to use most of the time (our room was on the 4th floor) The hotel looks run down and dilapidated. I will definitely not be staying there again.
“We had a great family vacation!!”
We had the best time at the beach! The property is well loved, its like your favorite teddy bear, a little ruff around the edges, but it is home. We've been coming here for 21 years so it is definately home. We are very excited about the new owners, and the changes that have already happened and they have only been there for 6 weeks! Can't wait to come back and see what else has been done. The new front doors look good, they have new locks, the beds were 100% better than the last time we stayed. And the staff was awesome! When we got to the hotel, my kids were so excited to see the "fun" corner, they could sign out skim boards and boogie boards and they never bothered me to go buy them anything for the beach because the Makai had it covered! Awesome!!
“Don't Stay Here”
The Makai Beach Lodge is a throwback to the 1950's without any improvementsi being made since it opened. It is dirty and disgusting. The room doors do not lock and the surrounding neighborhood does not make you feel very comfortable. There are many other old motels in disrepair that are close by. Please do not stay here especially if you have family. While it is on the beach, don't let that fool you. There are many other places close by that are much better. While the staff was friendly, they don't have much to work with
“not coming back”
I dont care if I have to pay 100 dollars more in order to stay at a nice hotel. Saving money is not worth staying at a crapy hotel.
“worst hotel ive stayed in daytona beach”
hated it they advertised a few things they didnt offer the breakfast was thawed out pasteries and bagles
“Ruined our vacation”
The hotel wasn't clean. The building was filthy and in much need of repair. Website says there is a hot tub and arcade. The arcade is no longer open and the hot tub wasn't working the whole week. Our bathroom window had a huge hole in it with a tissue or something stuffed in the hole. The hotel now charges for the safe in the room and also for parking in their lot (there is nowhere else to park). We had stayed here several years ago but will NEVER go back.
“cant wait to go back”
hot tub wasnt working but we lived. this is a pretty relaxed place. had lots of towels the kids came and gone as pleased workers at the desk were great thank you...
“Not worth the Daytona Weekend $$”
My GF and I decided to go to the Daytona 500. It's a long drive from Valrico so we looked for rooms around Daytona Beach. We found out that was nearly impossible. But we did find this place and although it's normally cheap for a night, it was VERY expensive that Sunday after the race was over. Not wanting to drive 3 hours home we decided to try it. The bathroom window had a 3 inch piece of glass missing. I stuffed a tissue in it. We were exhausted and went to bed early. The blanket in the closet I put on the bed looked to be 25 years old. We closed our eyes and slept. Although the room was on the beach front it did not make up for the condition of the building. Built in the 40's and in bad shape. Windows haven't been washed since the 60's. But they did have free breakfast which was muffins and bagels!
“great hotel to stay at”
we found every thing very clean.I am looking to come back next year and spent 2 to 4 weeks.Every one was so nice at the Hotel.Expedia was very help full.I like to thank them for making my trip lots of fun.
