“Clean, safe, beach front hotel”

Yes, this is an older hotel. The rooms were clean, linens changed daily. Had ocean view, hotel is right on the ocean with heated indoor pool, outdoor pool, and beach access. Right on the A1A. This is our second stay here and will always stay here when visiting Daytona/Ormond. Room has great kitchenette with full size fridge, 4 burner stove & oven, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, kitchen sink with all utensils, pots, dishes, glasses silverware. Ran to the Publix and Deals store, bought what we needed for breakfast, snacks, soda, water. If you are looking for the "W" this is not it, but it safe, clean friendly and right on the beach for a great value.

Area recommendations

We visited this time on a business trip to purchase a home in near by Edgwater Fl. We enjoyed beach side Ormond, Edgewater, New Smyrna Beach, Daytona Beach. Dayton a bit inland can be a bit rougher. If you like dancing we tried the Blue Grotto, this time off of Beach St, lots of fun, I would say 30 and older crowd. If you have rented a car, then no worries. There are restaurants and shopping withing walking distance and there is a bus line, but not familiar with it.

“run down and dirty”

have stayed at this hotel many years before but it is now off my list. hotel has bugs, roaches and ants. bathroom dirty, do not change sheets, extremly run down now and making no renovations.

“A good deal”

Great staff, clean grounds, outstanding ocean view, but the room needed updating. Visited over Labor Day weekend and overall enjoyed ourselves. One unanticipated gem was our finding a WONDERFUL restaurant, Betty's, about 5 miles N of the motel. on S. Atlantic Ave. Another was the Peach Valley Cafe on Granada in between the river and the Atlantic. That together with the helpful attitude of the staff made the weekend.

“Good Hotel for the price”

This is our second time at this hotel and again we were very pleased with the room and the hotel staff. The room was clean and the staff were always there to get whatever we needed. The balcony view was awesome!

“Lack of Communication By Staff”

The young ladies at the check-in desk need some training in friendliness (no smile, thank you, etc.) however the young lady at the check-out was nice and friendly. During our first night, the hotel had a water problem which we found out about when we put the water on. We thought maybe it was just our room as the water was just barely coming out of the faucet. My husband called the front desk to report our lack of water pressure and the unfriendly lady on the desk replied "I know." No, I'm sorry, etc as customer service usually warrants. When my husband asked when it would be fixed she replied 1-2 hours. However, the whole hotel was without water for 6 hours! !! After 3 hrs. mgmt. finally posted a sign at the elevator regarding a water problem. If you didn't leave your room you wouldn't have known about a water problem until you turned the water on. I think mgmt. could have handled this in a better way like phoning each room or putting a note under each door. This is my 2nd stay and our first time wasn't much better. I definitely will not return to this hotel.

“It is what it is!!!!!”

This is a lower end hotel that has a great location and inexpensive. The hotel has fairly nice appearance, decent kitchens and great balconeys. For the price there is good value. But, don't expect a huge lobby with gorgeous chandeliers. It is perfect for a beach get away.

“Perfect for Relaxation!”

This was our first truly "leisurely" vacation, and Coral Beach Hotel in Daytona Beach hit the spot! Everything was conveniently located--beaches right outside, restaurants along the strip, shopping north and south, grocery store 3 minutes away, and a fully equipped kitchenette in our room. Added bonus was the laundry facility, where you could wash your wet swimsuits and pack them away. Only hiccup were the uncomfortable double beds, which left my husband with a sore back.

Area recommendations

We stayed in the Ormond Beach area, which is great for general relaxing, shopping, and dining. For a better day at the beach, however, we highly recommend taking the short trip into true Daytona Beach because the water there is better for swimming.

Getting around

Getting around was an adventure, and you need an adventurous spirit because the buses and trolleys run every 30 to 60 minutes, so if you don't time it just right, you could be waiting for a bit. Nonetheless, there are benches at almost every bus stop, and there is a constant sea breeze that makes waiting in the hot sun bearable. Plus, it's next to impossible to get lost on public transportation because you can essentially go only north or south to get to the major city sights and beaches.

“Great location, price and service; would go back!”

We booked this hotel because of the location. We were able to check in a little early with no problem and the attendant upgraded our room to a kitchenette at no charge because they needed our room for a larger group. It's no Hilton, but you will have everything you need plus an ocean view. We would go back tomorrow! The staff were nice and accommodating. We were within a short drive to several great restaurants and other locations. The price was great too!

Ormond Beach is nice, Ponce Inlet is beautiful and the best seafood we ever had was at Our Deck Down Under in Port Orange... Be sure to top off the great food with their amazing key lime pie!!!

“Not impressed”

The hotel is in a good location right on the beach and in walking distance of several restaurants, but the hotel itself is not in very good shape. The fridge in the room was extremely noisy. Hotel staff was not very friendly.

“I'll be back for sure.”

I stayed for a week and found everything to my liking. Like other reviewers have commented, this is a little older building but everything seemed to be well maintained. The indoor and outdoor pools were clean. I had an oceanfront room on the third floor and had a full kitchen. For the money, you can't beat this place. Some friends of mine came into town a couple of days after I did and got a room at the H*****y Inn about 2 miles down the road. After seeing his room, my observations were; Their "oceanfront" room didn't have as good a view as mine, my room was much larger, had a full kitchen and not just a mini-fridge with microwave, and cost less then theirs.
