Exceeded our expectations for all aspects (e.g., rooms, cleanliness, service, staff friendliness, etc.). Great location that is near to the Davis train station so the hotel has added extra sound-proofing to rooms. I just wish other hotels would do the same since it can be so annoying when trying to sleep when you hear noises from other rooms or hallways.
I spent two nights here in June. The hotel is located just off I-80, but doesn't suffer from loud freeway noise. It is only a few blocks from the center of the old town and less than a mile from UC-Davis. The room was clean, relatively large and somewhat sparsely furnished. The age of the structure means you won't find a lot of convienent electrical outlets. Flushing the toilet required that the handle be held down. The grounds are well kept and the pool looked good. Given the price, location, and good general condition I would certainly stay here again.
Unfortunately, there was a large number of youth soccer kids and parents staying there at the same time. Lots of noice and crowds. But we were put on the third floor and that helped. We avoided the free breakfast due to the crowd.
This hotel served out needs very well. We were only staying in Davis one night. After a 6 hour drive, we only needed a place to crash. It was cleaner and nicer then the Econo lodge in Davis proper, a hotel/motel style that really needs some updating. At motel 6 everything was neat and basically clean. The room did smell like cigarettes, even though I requested nonsmoking, but because of the previous reviews I read I was prepared with a room freshener. So I would say great value for exactly what it is a place to crash. PS they even have a nice pool that I will take advantage of on my next stay.
