Overall, the title says it all, this hotel is much better than you would normally expect at this price range, particularly in Greece.
The hotel is located about 200 metres up a quiet lane off the main road in open countryside. It's extremely well run and maintained, the rooms are comfortable with air con (no extra cost) and by Greek standards, have nice bathrooms. Our room (room 70) was on the top (2nd) floor at the rear of the hotel with panoramic views over the surrounding countryside - it even had 2 balconies to enjoy it all from!
There is a good size pool to the rear with plenty of seating and a pleasant pool bar. There is also a tennis court and quite a large garden. The staff were always very friendly and helpful.
Only 2 negatives - the coffee at breakfast is terrible (!!), and also you need to be aware that the hotel does cater for groups of German teenagers at certain times of the year, celebrating the end of their studies. This inevitably means noise can be a problem at times, especially early evening with music from the pool bar and in the early hours of the morning when they return from partying! You can't blame them for this; they were noisy but unlike British teenagers they were well behaved, and when we approached the staff about it they were very pro-active in efforts to get the group to quieten down.
Although it was an issue at times it wouldn't put me off returning to the hotel - I'd just try to avoid the (limited) periods when the groups were staying.
This holiday was unforgettable. The staff were so accommodating to all of our needs. Although the rooms were very basic, the staff and their attention to detail were first class. Sometimes when you book a holiday with the large hotels you do not receive the intimate approach, it gets lost in the hustle of trying to run all of the facilities. It was my sons birthday while we were on holiday, and the management went out of their way to make this a special occasion for him. It was the personal details and the very warm approach that all of the staff gave that made our stay at this hotel very memorable. The hotel is a family run hotel and they certainly made you feel part of their family. My son did not want to leave, he wants to return there again next year.
A super little taverna in a quiet location, but only a short stroll to the beach and main restaurants and bars. Yannis and Efee give you a warm welcome on arrival, along with a refreshing cool drink, and are always around to give advise on where to go and what to do and make you feel at home. Plenty of sun beds and lovely large, spotlessly clean pool, which was nearly always empty on our visit. The Studio room was quite large and had excellent air conditioning, which was needed as it was very hot, 35 degrees plus! Kitchenette was adequate for light meals and breakfast and there was a shady balcony with table and chairs to eat outside. Maid service every day, which was a surprise, and the sheets were changed too along with clean towels.Next door is a little supermarket which was good for small purchases of milk, water, bread etc.Restaurant and bar downstairs served reasonably priced, good quality meals and drinks all day. All in all a little gem and very reasonably priced too.
Twelve kilometres north of Corfu Town, Dassia is a low-key resort, popular with North European couples and families on package deals. Lying on the main coastal road, it offers accommodation in large, modern hotels set in gardens. The long, narrow pebble beach has good water sports facilities and looks across the channel to Albania. Two kilometres north of Dassia, Ipsos is known for late-night bars and discos.
