“Number 3 on short list”
Not bad for the price but for the same money or less there two other hotels in the area that I like much better. This is a great location but a few things I didn't like. Only the front entrance was open to the out side. So if you had to park on side or back you had a good walk to get in. Only a few lights in the parking lot worked sides and back of hotel dark. Room was small compair to other hotels of same price. On the plus side, about 120 feet from the hotel door to Outback Steakhouse door. Rooms very clean and people were very nice.
“Looks good at first glance, but beware!”
We chose this hotel for a one night stay over on our way to Houston. After reading the reviews that had been given by previous travelers, we thought it would be a good choice. The fact that Expedia rated the hotel with only 21/2 stars should have been a clue. The exterior of the building looks pretty good. We had a room on the first floor which I was not too fond of. Upon entering the room at first glance it looked ok. Upon closer inspection, we noticed that the bathroom was very shabby and in need of repair and updating. There is an electrical panel on the back side of the shower (hope the water pipe never bursts) There was also almost a 3/4" - 1" gap at the bottom of the door of the room leading into the hallway (on the first floor easy for creepy crawlers to enter). We had a wonderful view of a brick wall out our window. We were very disappointed. Language barrier with front desk upon check in. Morning staff very nice.
“Nice hotel, except for the mildew”
Overall the hotel is very nice and the staff is friendly. However, we were put in a handicapped accessible room and the carpet around the bathroom and kitchen was soaking wet. The shower design was such that it was impossible for water not to leak out and soak the carpet. The pervasive smell of mildew made our stay less comfortable than it would have been otherwise.
“Quality and comfort has gone down.”
I stayed at this hotel last year and was very satisfied with my stay. However, my last stay was filled with problems. First of all, the air conditioner does not go below 70 degrees. The thermostat is set so you can't make your room cooler than 70. In hot Texas weather, this is unacceptable. I like my room at least 68 degrees so I had a difficult time falling asleep. The clerk told me there is now way to make my room cooler. Second, it was difficult to get cold water. I had to take a hot shower when I needed a cold shower to cool off. The water did cool down to warm after about 15 minutes, but never cold. This magnafied the air conditioning problem. Third, when the AC did come on, it was so loud it actually woke me from sleep. The hotel is in a good safe location with near by restaurants. However, I will not be a repeat customer.
“Not a place for single females”
The hotel accommodations were very nice; however, the hotel manager acted innappropriately to say the least. If you are a single female traveling alone do not stay there-pick another hotel now!
