Very unique stay excellent if you love animals.
We stayed for 2 nights. Room was good with comfortable beds and pillows. The owner Gil was very friendly and you were made to feel like the zoo was yours. You could go into the zoo whenever you wanted, even at night which was an eerie experience and was well worth doing. Breakfast was continental with various fresh breads and spreads, cereal, fresh mango juice, tea and coffee. This was included in the price. This hotel is great for people who like animals and want a different hotel experience. If ever back in the Daintree I would definitely stay there again.

Rainforest stay with intimate animal encounters
We wanted to stay in the Rainforest, but not be completely isolated, and this location was perfect for day-tripping to Mossman Gorge, Cape Trib and other points of interest PLUS the access to the on-site, well maintained zoo was amazing! Our zoo-facing Cockatoo room was spacious, clean and very comfortable. The owners, Gil and Donna, treated us like friends and made our stay so enjoyable.

No go due to illness.
Thankyou for asking for a review. We could not go due to the inability for my wife to negotiate the steps to the accommodation. The accommodation we booked was on the ground floor, but we then found out this was for backpackers. The proprietor phoned use to tell us the bad news. He also informed us there is a no refund on this accommodation. We lost our money. Read the small print. The ad in your website gives a false image of the accommodation.

B&B inside zoo
Zoo had heaps of animals, although the zoo itself is a bit run down in places. Poor dingos were in a enclosure right at the back corner and in need of abit of TLC the poor things probably never get looked at or walked. Tariff is abit pricey considering that the rooms all have share facilities and should include the zoo (entry is half price). Host wasn't overly friendly and didnt seem very tolerant of little kids. Was still an activity worth doing and something different to other accom and b&b's.

A wonderful place to stay
We spent two nights here during out visit to the Daintree and Cape Tribulation. Upon arrival we were greeted by the lovely couple who own the B&B, and were excited to be staying a zoo! As guests, we had unlimited entry to the zoo for a small fee of $16. The rooms were large, clean and very comfortable. It had a welcoming and homely feel, this was especially great as we were travelling with our 5 month old baby. The accommodation is in great location - central to Mossman, Daintree and Cape Tribulation. We will definitely stay here again!

We slept with the kangaroos
Staying in this B&B was a unique experience, as the hotel is also a zoo. We were able to get close to lots of indigenous animals; kangaroos, crocodiles, emus, and wide variety of tropical birds. The included breakfast was plentiful and delicious. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful, and there were a great many activities a short drive away. A few things to note however; Optus and Vodofone phones had no service in this location. Also, booking for three nights got us a free crocodile tour with local operators. The wifi was fast, but the service did have a few hours of interruption during our three day stay. We also did not, in fact sleep with the kangaroos. Unfortunately. Overall, if you are interested in something different, definitely a great place to stay.

Interesting but not a great deal
Cool zoo hotel. However, they should mention that you have to pay extra (half price) to visit the zoo. Very friendly staff, but the accommodation has a communally shared bathroom that wasn't very clean. All in all, a cool concept, but it should cost half.

For something a bit different
The zoo (animal rescue) has some unique features and well worth at least a days respite from the outside world. Take the children and allow them to wander around at different times of the days to enjoy feeding hours. This is an interactive, educational experience in an authentic context, so rare in these hectic times.

Big Surprise in the Rainforest
Please stay here or at least make a pit stop. My friend and I went on a trip to Australia, no boys allowed. We had a wonderful surprise when we got to the B&B. We didn't realize it was attached to a zoo. We stayed 2 nights but wished we stayed and extra. Gill, the property owner, zoo keeper and B&B host is a very nice, gruff bushman. He was very helpful in giving us suggestions on what we could do in the area since we did not plan anything before hand. He was great to talk to in the morning as he prepared our spread of breakfast: cereal, milk, toast, exotic homemade jams, yoghurt...a hot breakfast will cost. There is a small town with a gas station and grocery store only 20 min away. Make note you are in the jungle and pretty much in the middle of nowhere. There are spiders, toads and a lot of noises at night. Also you can walk around with the kangaroos and wallabys. As animal people, we loved it!!!

Staying at the zoo was such a fun experience. We were able to walk around he zoo one it was closed and explore. It's especially beneficial to see all the nocturnal animals come out and are active. The staff was amazingly nice and the rooms were so clean and comfortable.

A B&B with a difference!
We arrived at the B&B fairly late in the day, which didn't give us much time to explore the attached zoo before the light went out. The room was clean and tidy, though the air-con was a little noisy and we did have a cockroach join us for part of the evening, but when you're in the rain forest, you have to embrace a bit of nature! Staff were friendly and the breakfast was ok, though didn't live up to the expectations based on other people's experiences, mainly due I believe to us being the only guests. A comfortable night's sleep, despite having to make a night-time dash in the dark to the separate loo.

Perfect family stopover
From the outside it looks deceptively ordinary but once you enter your room you'll be pleasantly surprised with the refreshingly eclectic decor and level of quality of furnishings. The most comfortable motel bed I've slept in for a while. Perfect for the adults whilst the kids swim in the pool out the back door with roos and wallabies hopping about behind the fence. Backing onto this adorable zoo which I'd recommend over Cairns zoo. Lovely, hands on owner, friendly staff and welcoming cockatoo committee.

Refreshing change from bland hotel experiences!
Great to be surrounded by the animals and to be able to wander around the grounds. Be prepared to accept all that comes with having animals so close though. E.g. bring thongs to keep your feet clean getting to the pool and back through the kangaroo paddock! And if you enjoy good tea and coffee, take your own. The owners and staff are all lovely, friendly and accommodating.

Such an unusual place in the very best way.
Our room was really nice and fronted onto the zoo, but we had to share bathrooms with others which in itself is not an issue, but we do prefer to have an en-suite. Had I read the whole ad properly I would have found there were rooms with en-suites available. We were shown them on the day we were leaving and they were beautiful. We would have changed to one of those rooms had we been offered one when we checked in. Our fault though. Breakfasts were nice. The owners were lovely people and took us to a show with dinner at a remarkable place called the Australian Mustering Experience (I think that is the correct name). Fantastic. Delicious dinner and a rodeo show with real professionalism. Thank you to you both and I hope your dear wee grandson's ear problem was taken care of.

A must do!
Gil and Donna are genuine, honest, warm and comical hosts. We recently visited off peak, which led to a complimentary upgrade. Upon our welcome my girlfriend was given the opportunity to feed Alice, the 3 month old kangaroo. Everyone in the Zoo made us feel welcome. The room was spacious, very clean and decorated tastefully. You are in the middle of the rainforest, so amenities are not on your doorstep. Overall top marks!

Fantastic accomodation - highly recommended!!
We absolutely loved our stay here - we only stayed one night but could easily have stayed longer. It really is a fantastic and unique place and we would highly recommend this to everyone. It would also be a great place to stay with children as being in the zoo would keep them well occupied day and night and the animals are all very tame and friendly. We stayed in one of the newer rooms (the Aviary rooms) and they were better than the five star resort we had stayed in the night before for double the price in Cairns. The rooms down by the pool looked a bit more basic but good for those on a budget. Gil and Michael and Mareena were so friendly and really made us feel at home - we even got to see the baby Dingos being hand fed. It had a very personal feel and the dinner and breakfast were great too. Can't say enough good things about this place - we are so glad we stumbled across it and we will be back!!
