“Very good location - but also very noisy”

This hotel was clean and offered good service. However, the location can get rather noisy. We did not sleep much because during each of our three nights there, there was a lot of noise (e.g. from a music stage on the Plaza de Armas with very loud live music until after 3 a.m., from people attending religous services at 4 a.m. in the morning etc.). Checkout time is very early at 9 a.m. and the hotel was not very flexible in extending the hours although we wanted to leave at 11 a.m. anyway.

“Cuzco Center City Moderate Hotel”

Great location in the heart of Cuzco. Friendly staff. Nice breakfast buffet. Comfortable moderately priced hotel which was very adequate to my needs. Clean basic rooms. I was even able to watch my favorite football team play an important game on Monday Night Football on in-room Direct TV. That was a happy surprise! All in all, I was completely satisfied with the price/amenities ratio. Would stay there again if I return to Peru.

Area recommendations
Most definitely, the center city area. That's is where all the sites are. Leaving this area, the surroundings become a little dicey. I would not want to walk around there after dark. Not that I witnessed any violence, but you are easy to pick out as a non-resident. By your dress but especially by your hair color. The greatest danger to travelers in Cuzco is from the auto traffic. In Peru, a pedestrian does not have the right of way to cross streets. I was advised of this beforehand and it is most definitely true. Watch your step when you cross the street. .

“Beautiful hotel in a great location with exemplary service and staff”

The hotel staff was very friendly (almost all staff spoke English and they were very accommodating of my limited Spanish). I arrived very early in the morning and they made a room available for me extremely quickly despite the early hour and short notice. They provided helpful directions for locating the major sights around town and helped arrange taxis for us to visit other nearby areas and towns. They also offered to store our luggage for us in their security room during our travels even after we checked out - we had another hotel arranged already and didn't need to use this service, but it would have been very helpful had we required it. The complimentary breakfast was very nice, as was the complimentary mate de coca. Our room was very comfortable and, as mentioned, the staff was extremely accommodating whenever we needed any assistance. The hotel's location was superb as well - it is located just off the Plaza de Armas and within walking distance of nearly everything we wanted to see in Cusco (a short taxi ride was required to see Sacsayhuaman and the other nearby ruins, but as mentioned the hotel was extremely helpful in arranging this trip and even helping us negotiate a price). Overall I would highly recommend this hotel to other visitors considering a stay in Cusco.

Area recommendations
I would highly recommend the Plaza de Armas (and surrounding area) as well as the ruins at Sacsayhuaman and nearby. The hotel was very helpful both in recommending areas to visit and arranging taxis for our trips.

“Highly recommended”

We arrived at the hotel about an hour before the check-in time so our rooms were not ready yet. The staff invited us to relax in the breakfast area and drink some coca tea until our rooms were ready. We were actually able to check in a half hour early. The front desk personnel were always friendly and helpful and they went out of their way to greet their guests by name as they passed by the front desk. There was a uniformed security guard stationed at the front door fo the hotel 24-7 who was very friendly and courteous and always seemed to know who belonged there and who did not. A young man named Sergio (works at the front desk) was extremely helpful, making taxi arrangements for us, not only in Cusco, but contacted our hotel in Lima in order to make taxi arrangements from the airport to our Lima hotel. If we ever return to Cusco our #1 choice in hotels would be this one.

Area recommendations
Be sure to visit the San Blas district, about 4 blocks from the hotel. Also make the trip to the top of the hill and overlook Cusco from Cristo Blanco. Great view. There is a local market about 7 blocks south of the hotel with tons of fresh food, souvenirs and clothing.

“It was OK”

Whatever star rating this hotel was given was trumped up by at least one full star. The hotel was in a good location, but the hotel itself is worn and tired. My fiance and I received a room with 3 beds which was 2 too many. It was fine, but not to the level advertised.

“Close to Plaza”

The Sonesta is well located just a block from the main plaza. Cups of hot coca tea available at all times. Very adequate buffet for breakfast. We had a windowless room but spent very little time in it. Beds were very comfortable. We needed a transformer for the CPAP machine and it was provided without charge and the internet was available at all times at no charge.

Area recommendations
Cusco has lots of things to see and this hotel is well located downtown and convenient to everything. Taxis to the train station for the trip to Machu Picchu are available and called by the hotel. Dont miss the Centro de Textiles Tradicionales de Cusco on Avenida El Sol for woven goods that are the real thing. Walk dont run anywhere. The altitude does affect you right away.

“Very good location but...”

The hotel is in a very good location but the sign of the hotel's name is quite small and hard to be noticed. Service is good and the staff are helpful though one of them seems not to really understand English. But overall is fine.

“Not impressed Try Hotel QP when abilable”

We had a problem at check up they said we did not have breakfast included, had to contact expedia.

Traveller's tip
Do not use their Internet service. Contrary to most hotels they charge you for the use of it. And charge to much $ 2.oo for 30 minutes. Go around the corner and you can get an excellent service for 2 soles (about $.80 ) for 1 hour

Cusco, Peru: The Old and the New World intersect in Cusco: This fair city was remade in the image of Spain after conquistadors crushed the Inca in the 1500s. This colonial heritage is most evident at the Plaza de Armas, home to three baroque churches. To see the vestiges of the Incas, pass through the bohemian enclave of San Blas in the hills above central Cusco, and head north to the Sacsayhuaman fortress.
