I had to change to an earlier flight to take a our in Cusco. I forgot to let the Hotel know and I arrived several hours before my check in time. The staff was very courteous and let me check in early. This is a fairly new small hotel in a great location. I had a very early train ride the next day and the staff woke up early to cook me breakfast.
Excellent location about 2 blocks away from Plaza de Armas. The initial reception was excellent, bags were quickly taken care of and we were led to the reception area while they did the computer entries on the reservation. We stayed in a one bedroom suite, it was a good size and very clean. No problems with heat, A/C etc. The bed was fantastic, very comfortable, and the black out curtains on the drapes were the best I've ever used, great for sleeping in. We did not hear any noise from adjacent rooms or the hallway, generally speaking it is a very quiet hotel since most people are out doing tours during the day.
The only cons were reception not answering one day, and a little confusion with our drycleaning - nothing major. Personally I would skip the hotel restaurant for breakfast and head to a smaller cafe such as Greens. The breakfast was typical buffet although with excellent pastries, however the price was triple what you would pay a couple blocks away, with equally excellent food.
Checkout was smooth and they arranged for a nice car at a very reasonable price. I would definitely stay at this hotel again if in Cusco.
I can't say enough how professionally and warmly Marriott staff took care of us. I was quite sick when we checked in. They made sure a doctor sees me right away at the hotel. The doctor was very good - kudos to Marriott selection. Next morning I left my passport in the room and realized only after reaching the airport. The hotel staff (Mr Douglas if I remember correctly) personally came to the airport to deliver the passport. It would have been a disaster if housekeeping had somehow lost the passport or Mr Douglas had delayed coming to the airport. I would have missed two connecting international flights while also under the stress of fighting a serious infection. Kudos to Marriott culture and also to the caring spirit I found in the Peruvian people I met including hotel staff and taxi drivers who all worked as a seamless team absolutely focused to help and serve their guest in some particularly challenging situations I faced while staying at the hotel. It felt like a home and they all felt like my own people.
The hotel was lovely, they had people waiting for us at the airport even though we hadn't specified our new flight time and they even came back for my friend who got bumped to a different flight - had mate and coffee waiting for us in the lobby, and were extremely nice and accommodating the whole time. Breakfast is excellent and is available for a long period which is nice if you have tours booked. Would definitely stay here and at other Tierra Viva hotels again.
Reserved this place without much background research. One of our best places on our long trip.
Great location in the heart of Cusco. Large selection of restaurants and places of interest nearby and great advice from the hotel front end as to where to go.
Rooms are of good size and clean. It was a bit cold during the night and the heaters take a bit to fully warm up the room.
Being that the hotel is in the heart of Cusco, there is a bit of nightlife noise that seem to filter into the rooms if you have the windows open but nothing to disrupt our sleep.
Shower floor drain could be increased to allow water not to build up.
Good selection and variety for breakfast.
My family and I stayed here, for my birthday very comfortable nice the staff was very nice and spoke English, the food it's great! Specially the complimentary breakfast this hotel is about 13 minutes away from the plaza de armas the walk is very safe I will definetly stay here again.
