“Lovely stay in Willemstad”

The hotel room was very roomy and comfortable. The ocean view and balcony were fantastic. It was nice to relax on the balcony with your morning coffee or a before dinner drink. We enjoyed both the infinity beach and pool. both were quite well maintained. The infinity beach was very warm. Plenty of shade was available on the beach as well which was a godsend on the hotter days. We enjoyed the Infinity Bar which served nice lunches and snacks. We would not recommend the breakfast at the hotel. Both the service and food were unpleasant. However there is a nice cafe on the second floor with pastries, expresso and fruit trays as well as a lovely cafe in the Rifort. The hotel was "non-smoking" and the rooms definitely were smoke free however the restaraunt, bar and casino areas did allow smoking which we are not accustomed to any more. There are many good restaurants within walking distance.

Getting around

The taxi's in Willemstad are something to avoid. We took four of them and one would have passed Canadian safety standards. The other three had no available seatbelts, they were filthy and one was literally held together with packing tape. The driver's door had to be held shut. The fumes were horrible. The drivers were not chatty like in Barbados, for example. However they offered a consistent flat rate and you never felt over billed.

Must see

Kura Hurlanda Museum is worth seeing. It covers the history of slavery in the Curacau and has some amazing artifacts. A guided tour is on $3 extra.

“Beautiful View and Great Pool”

Although the location was just ok for restaurant options and sightseeing, the infinity pools and the view were awesome. Great spot for a restful vacation but if you want sightseeing and other activities, a car would be recommended if you stay here. The coffee shopshop and restaurant were pricey but very convenient.

“We will return!!!”

We had a wonderful time. The hotel is in a good location for other restaurants and a grocery store is a five minute walk where you can get bottled water and fresh fruit. The only complaint my wife had was the cleaning staff would only leave three wash clothes despite daily tips. The man-made beach is small but the salt water pool with a sand floor was great. It is a great get-a-way when you just want to relax.

“A 'dushi' Gem!”

This is by far the most conveniently located hotel I've been to. close to shops, restaurants, bars, and best of all local people. The staff was great, helpful and attentive. The night view of Punda and the Cruise ships are worth the trip. On top of all this, the hotel it has the best infinity 'man-made' beach that could rival some private beaches in the Caribbean. Overall VERY PLEASED!!

“Mediocre hotel with great potential...”

This was my second stay at this hotel in a year. We had 2 rooms booked. Pros: The best thing about this place is the location and the numerous shops (clothing, jewelry) and restaurants surrounding the hotel. You can easily walk to the city to shop. This is absolutely great. So if you do not want to drive when on Curacao this place should be high on the list. Cons: Compared to my stay in February, the quality got a little worse IMHO. I once again had problems to get an early check in and late check out. In bound and out going flights to and from my country are late in the afternoon and early in the morning. It was maybe my fault that I did not mention long before my stay that I wanted an early check in but it shouldn't be so stressful (I got one room with difficulty and got a whole other room 2-3 hours after initial check in). What I was told is that a late check out can only be asked for on the day of check out, at 10 o'clock. Anyway, our last day was "lost" because we could only stay till one and we could not travel to West Punt anymore. I even asked to pay extra for at least one room, which wasn't possible. What also irritated me was that my room was only "cleaned" once during the 3 night stay. Another incident was with a "clean" towel in my mothers room which wasn't really clean, it had a strong odor. Conclusion: Great location to stay if you do not want to drive while on Curacao, mediocre service. I personally will visit a different hotel next time.

“Great Hotel”

Everything was excellent, just wish they had balcony rooms with 2 beds available

“Very nice hotel. The room wasn't ok when I arrived.”

Was a big desapointment. The room wasn't completely clean.

Stay in Otrobanda or Pundo if you want access to restaurants and see more people.

Nightlife

Very interesting place is Mambo Beach Bar. Has live and Dj Music with 2 distint ambience. Very nice to dance. The peaple age is around 30.

“Great island secret”

I had never heard of Curacao let alone considered visiting and what a pleasant surprise. Expedia's package to the island was great price wise. The Renaissance Hotel was the best in cleanliness, service and location. We were centrally located to shopsand restaurants. Although the islands beaches were far out (reached by car) the hotel did a good job with its man made beach area.

Area recommendations

I would recommend the Octoban area.

“I'll be back!”

This hotel is beautiful and comfortable! The staff always smiled and was very courteous. It's proximity to the rest of the city is perfect. The infiniti pool was great! The way it overlooked the ocean gave it depth and feeling like you were on a real beach. The weather was always beautiful with a wonderful trade winds breeze! People were friendly. It was a great vacation and wish it wasn't over!

Area recommendations

I would recommend everyone going to Curacao to stay at the Renaissance because it is in the heart of the city. It is convenient ato shopping, eating and touring.
