“extensive traveller to the Caribbean”
Over rated Hotel. First night the key entry did not work. 4 tries later still did not work. Dead bolt did not work (leaned chaIr accross door for secuerity). Plugs are european - no adaptors. No iron or iron board in room. Quaint but impractical hotel. Not impressed.
“Stay November 2011”
Front Desk/Bellboy/HK were excellent! Great historic building with a lot of antiques in its repertoire. Very interesting. Nice gardens however you can see that the buildings away from the majority of guest traffic needs to be repaired/cleaned especially the Curacao Garden area. Also, the hotel needs a little giftshop with more items and coffeemakers should be made available upon request. Food and Beverage is ok but the wait staff service needs to improved. Witnessed an argument in front of me behind the little coffee/bar place in the local language which I understood and that was not nice. When we had dinner 2 other tables were occupied but it took forever to get the meal. All by all the trip was not leisure as I had some appointments and I do recommend staying there.
“very special environment, mystic, relaxing, hystory”
Most of the people are very nice, place is very clean, good food. Maybe the gardens must have a little more attention. Good service at the spa.
“Amaz-ing find!!!!!”
Seriously, this is the coolest hotel/resort I have ever stayed at. Each room is different and very authentic. The beds are comfortable, the bathroom was more like a ballroom! The shower was great. The grounds are so cool; each room is off of a quant European cobble-stone pathway that winds through out the property. The guest services are great. They will take you to the other property where the beach is breath-taking, there is also a shuttle to another beach. It's the nicest place we saw on the Island. I would stay here again in a heart beat. This hotel made our stay even more fantastic. Food is great as well. A little price, but good. There are places in Punda are less expensive, but you can't put a price on convience sometimes. Please visit!!
“Great place to stay”
Excelent location
“great atmosphere, with issues”
This hotel is located in the city of Willemstad in a not great but okay neighborhood and has lots of character and is an easy walk to most of the city. There's a 15 minute free shuttle to a very nice beach (Blue Bay) and you can also go to the Lodge Kura Hulanda, where the diving/snorkeling may be good but the beach is quite narrow and rocky and not at all pleasant. The hotel is actually made up of separate old colonial houses, and my room was comfortable, great sheets, okay pillows, cable tv with NYC stations and HBO. The ice machine was broken but staff would bring ice if requested. It was very hot while I was there (late October) and the a/c runs continuously, which is fine, but unfortunately on the 5th day of my stay some smokers moved into the room upstairs and the a/c apparently circulated their smoke into my room. It was awful, and they don't appear to have any non-smoking rooms. Had this occurred earlier in my stay I would have asked for a different room. Also, the maids would remove room service trays from rooms out into the courtyard and no one would pick them up - once this went on for over 24 hours even though I notified the front desk of it and he called someone. The restaurants' food overall was pretty good but the service could be really slow. The pool areas and the museum on site are all worth a visit. Overall it was a good, relaxing experience except for the smoke.
“Best of Curacao”
I'm a photographer, and Kura Hulanda's regular rates are out of my price range, but a great last minute deal on Expedia made it affordable to stay there during my last business trip to Curacao. The staff was wonderful, rooms beautiful and their location was within walking distance of everywhere I needed to go. I had a late flight several hours after checkout....stored my luggage with them and left for a full day of shooting. They won me over when I went back dirty and sticky to fetch my luggage, an extremely kind staff member opened an unoccupied room and let me take a shower before having to go to the airport. My work/travel schedule requires me to spend most nights in hotel rooms, I'm only in my own bed a few days a month..so hotel reviews are something I don't take lightly. Given that, I hands down recommend anyone going to the Punda area of Curacao to stay at Kura Hulanda. Cheers!
“Much better than expected”
A very positive suprise. All in all Curacao is a South-American Hawai to the power of two because of its international and varied cuisine.
“Fantastic spot, one of a kind experience..”
Very attentive hotel. Beautiful exerience. EXPENSIVE. My wife told me that she felt like she felt like JIM CAREY in the movie the TRUMAN SHOW. She wanted to throw a rock at the surroundings because it didn't feel real. The place has a man made feel to it I suppose, but in terms of man made,it is the best man made experience I have ever had.
“Wonderful place, will definitely go back!”
We had a great time at this hotel. Personnel was very friendly, rooms were beautiful (though ours was a bit dark) and tasteful. Our little kitchen wasn't very well supplied though but still useable. Pools and restaurants were great, though the service was a bit slow. The whole hotel and concept is wonderful, very happy they have restored all these beautiful houses in style!
