“good location”

Good view of colorful waterfront of Punda and downtown location is great. Difficult to find parking area at night. Room amenities are average.

“Would stay there again”

There was no hot water available at all times House keeping staff talks very loud early in the morning. No way one can relax in the morning.

“Not really a Howard Johnson standard hotel”

Bed was fine, rugs not really clean, windows impossible to close as they were damaged, A/C control had only one temperature so not really controlled. For sure you wont get what you expect from a Howard Johnson hotel.

“Will definately use this hotel again. Perfect location for sightseeing, shopping, dining.”

Ho Jo is ideally located in Curacao's capital. It sits on the bank of the river and over looks the ocean and the famous pontoon (moving bridge). The view is fantistic. Right outside your hotel window has lots of shopping and other activities for visitors. Irie Tours is a skip across from the hotel. They offer every imaginable tour for visitors. The hotel has well-trained staff, is comfortable and has everthing a standard hotel should offer. This is the perfect place to stay on your first visit to Curacao. I was very glad I chose Ho Jo!

“Close to everything”

The hotel is located at one of the busiest areas of Otro Banda. Bars and restaurants are downstairs and by crossing the floating bridge you can easily access Punda. The bus station is also behind the hotel. Perfect location.

Area recommendations

Well, Punda is the shopping area. The hotel is on the edge of that. You can do some shopping in Otro Banda, but I wouldn't go out alone at night.

“Great for a tight budget”

The best part of this hotel is it's location and the view that looks out onto the Brion plaza and bridge leading to Punda. The rooms are clean and beds are comfortable however they do not offer the usual amenities one comes to expect even from low budget hotels (coffee maker, tiny shampoo/conditioner bottles, microwave, fridge, etc). Good hotel if you just want to rest & sleep, not so much if you want anything beyond that.

Getting around

Their streets signs are not the best & very few are actually posted in the city (for the beaches, signs are well marked). I recommend getting a good street map before your arrival given that local drivers are a little on the aggressive side and have little patience for tourist traveling at low speeds looking out for their destination.

Outdoors or beach

The beaches are amazing in Curacao. At most beaches, the water is calm and clear with great opportunities to snorkel or dive. Many beaches however do not offer bathrooms/showers so be prepared for that.

“Howard Johnson, Curacao”

The hotel is very grubby. The corridors are full of dirt and packets and bags blow about. The lift was broken. The rooms dirty and damaged with use, stains and marks everywhere. I didn't have a bath It was filthy and the tile grout dirty, fixtures chipped or damaged and the water wouldn't run hot. Cold water would not run cold and there is nowhere to get water so you need to remember to buy bottled water. The receptionist took 20 mins to check me in as she was more interested in talking with friends and didn't even tell me which door I needed to find the hotel room. Staff attitude here is awful

Area recommendations

Wilhemstad is all nice.
