“We'll go back to Willowbeck”

Although we only stayed for one night (in Eve's Cottage) the friendly and relaxing atmosphere proved to be an excellent antidote to an otherwise long journey home from the Isle of Skye. Our room and living areas were really comfortable and wanted for nothing, oh and my sweet tooth appreciated the chocolate hearts kindly left for us. If we'd been staying for longer we wouldn't have been able to afford stay in Eve's cottage, but for one night to chill and stretch out it was ideal - a nice little treat. I'm sure the rooms in the main part of the Lodge are fab, but after a fortnight holidaying with various family members it was great for me and Mr S to have some space to ourselves. On Saturday evening we ate out in the Fox & Pheasant Inn (6 miles from Willowbeck down beautiful countyside roads, in the pretty village of Armathwaite - also very good by the way), but did enjoy a delicious cooked-to-order breakfast in the morning. The breakfast menu had a lot of choice and gave us an excellent start to the rest of our journey home. It would have been nice to "breakfast in" at the Cottage (rather than in the main guest house), but that's just my inner lazybones talking, who would always prefer breakfast in her PJs! I'd entirely recommend Willowbeck Lodge, and would be delighted to stay there again.
