Good hotel, and convenient to the motorway

Posted 15-Sep-2014
Pros: Ease of access from the motorway, but still very quiet and comfortable
A last minute reservation on a room only basis. Easy to find and easy access to the North Lakes area of the Lake District.

Very good

This was an impromptu stay for a family crisis but in the end we would consider staying for a visit to the lakes

Easy to find and everything under one roof.

Posted 08-Sep-2014
Pros: The position, offered a real restful break without going miles out of your way.
Cons: The room doors really need to be looked at so they don't have such a strong closing mechanism That they slam shut!! Was really bad.
Location: All we needed was there did not go out.
Comfortable, rooms spacious, contain all things needed when taking a break on a journey! Food good though not a wow factor! Staff excellent, attentive but not overly. Sadly the noise of banging doors spoilt our rest! There was a constant banging one after another! None of them close quietly,, they slam! A very handy hotel for breaking your journey.

Relaxing ambience perfect for a break

Posted 08-Sep-2014
Pros: Everything
Cons: Pillows but I'm very fussy anyway
Location: Penrith was very good, plenty to see and do, and the Lake District speaks for itself anyway, words don't do it justice when you can find them
Enjoyed the whole visit, nothing too much trouble. Very pleasant staff and cleanliness second to none. The hotel and staff will make sure you enjoy yourself whatever your reason for staying. Complimentary items of high quality also which was a nice surprise. Would recommend to anyone, families couples or groups wanting to relax

So close to motorway.

Pros: The staff and the food were all great.
It was an unknown quantity when I booked but turned out trumps. The external view could be rather off-putting but the inside proved to be quite the opposite and was lovely.

Lovely hotel

Posted 29-Jun-2014
Pros: The room, the pool, steam room, jacuzzi, most of all the friendly staff.
Cons: Just a shower instead of shower over bath. a shower screen instead of curtain as it refused to stick to the bath. The restaurant was expensive.
Location: Lots of places to eat in Penrith, we ate at India Gates, food was great. We climbed beacon edge in town. Ullswater lake was great.
The Hotel is only 10 minutes walk from the train station so it was really easy to get to. As you enter the car park and see the building for the first time, you can be forgiven for thinking you have arrived at Butlins. However, on the inside it truly deserves its 4* status. We had a lovely welcome and an offer was made to take our luggage to our room as my husband was on crutches. Luckily the hotel has a lift. The room was perfect and very clean. Complimentary tea/ coffee including bottled water was provided. Towels and toiletries were provided in the room and towels were provided each time we visited the pool. The jacuzzi and steam room were amazing. The changing rooms provided shower gel, hair dryers, and a spinning machine to dry swimming costumes. On the day of check out, our luggage was looked after for us whilst we went out for the day. We will definitely be returning with our family and would highly recommend this hotel.

Great hotel, Spa can be busy at weekends, especially if a wedding is on but this was a great hotel with very helpful and cheerful staff. Will stay again.

Stop Over En Route

Posted 29-May-2014 on Hotels.com
Overnight stopover from Northampton to Crieff, superb location just off M6. Breakfast not included in rate and £40+ for 2 adults and 2 children so had breakfast at McDonalds a few miles away. Didn't have time to use spa facilities, but looked good. Would stay here again if on route to Scotland.
