Good location, welcoming service

Posted 26-Sep-2014
Pros: Location was great, welcome was very polite and Anthony (or Andrew?) was more than happy to give details of things to do.
Cons: Mattresses - too soft and quite lumpy Bed frame - held together with a prayer Water pressure - bath took over 45 minutes to fill
Arrived mid afternoon and had our choice of room due to a cancellation. We chose the front-facing room due to the giant-looking poster bed and the full bathroom. Not a bad place overall - we remember staying here a few years ago - but in dire need of an update. The interior is tired and in need of some basic maintenance.

amazing experience

We had a family room at the top of the hotel. Very clean spacious room with all the conveniences. The hotel was on the main road a few minutes walk from the shops and the lake. Service was exceptional polite and efficient.. would definitely stay again and recommend

good views

Posted 04-Aug-2014
Pros: It is just a few minutes walk to Bowness lakeside The hotel is comfortable and serves a well cooked breakfast. Our room was stunning
Cons: The shower and water system needs a bit of TLC
Location: Must visit Hill Top go via the ferry and try the local cinema- it is quaint. The bar in the MacDonald Hotel has great views- go for a drink and enjoy
It is well worth paying the extra for a superior room. It is on the top floor so you get views of the lake and the room is large and beautifully furnished. The staff are charming and very helpful on getting the best out of the stay. The downside of the top floor is that there is three flights of steep stairs but it is well worth it

Clean but that's all it had going for it

Posted 24-Jul-2014 on Hotels.com
Stayed here for 1 night , for a 4 star hotel was very disappointed . Was old fashioned and in need of a good paint. First impression from back of hotel was a room full of junk all the way up the window . Hotel was clean staff nice enough , breakfast was a greasy and I couldn't even eat mine. All in all ok but won't stay here again never mind pay 4 star hotel rate. Basic travel lodge and premier inn much better . I understand the building was old but mould on bathroom ceiling and paint on doors which looked like hadn't been painted in 20 years. Sherry in room when they know a child is with you was not a good touch had to run over when my 6 year old picked up saying what's this mam pop.
