“Lovely Convenient Hotel”
Very well maintained and comfortable, quiet hotel for a very reasonable price. Would definitely stay again and would probably try the food next time as it looked lovely!
“Traintastic”
My 15 year old son is train mad and has always wanted to visit Carlise station as it is busy with passengers trains and goods trains of all sorts. So for a half term treat we booked train tickets and hotel and set off. Everything was great the journey was enjoyable and we got a very warm welcome at the hotel, a really comftable room well set out with lovely decor. The best thing was it was so close to the station so we could spend as much time as possible watching trains arrive and leave (not as boring as it sounds) when you have an expert to guide you through the sorts of engines. We even got to see the Royal Train. After a good nights sleep we were greeted to an excellent buffet breakfast as much or as little as you wanted, very freindly helpful staff, We would certainly come again.
“Hallmark Hotel Carlisle”
I stayed in a single room (room no. 112) and it was great. Very large for a single & no noise from the club or train station that other reviewers mention. The room was pleasantly warm throughout my stay but after a shower it felt uncomfortably warm, especially when I was using the hairdryer. There is no air conditioning in the rooms so I just had to put up with it. That was my only gripe about the hotel. Apart from that I would highly recommend.
“Not good service”
This hotel appears to be trying to save money, ONE receptionist on at most times, had to wait nealry 20 minutes on two occasions for them to answer the phone. One night NO TOILET TISSUE in the bathroom, took 45 minutes to get housekeeping to deliver one. On check out recetionist was rude after she asked me to pay AGAIN. She had NOT payed attention to the booking details, and was not aware that I had prepaid. Overall experience will stop me from using this hotel again.
“as close to the train station as it gets”
If you are traveling by train, this is the closest hotel to the station. Checkin was friendly and helpful, wifi was accessible, and the breakfast was really good. The public areas of the hotel are new and attractive, but the rooms are showing a bit of age, especially the furniture. The bed was clean, but not the most comfortable. Still, this was light years better than a certain nearby hotel that was a little cheaper but really, really rundown, where we stayed another time (and would not stay again). We would definitely stay at the Hallmark again when traveling through Carlisle, which is a wonderful small city near both Hadrian's Wall and the Lake District. From this hotel, you can walk to car rentals, to the castle, the art museum, downtown, restaurants, pubs, everything you need except the launderette which would be about half an hour walk (but 5 minutes if you have a car).
“Comfortable, convenient and reasonably priced”
Excellent location near station and easy walking distance to good shopping centre and nice restaurants. Noise from neighbouring restaurant kitchen fan is a distraction in rooms at the back, but ceases in time for a good night's sleep. Good menu for food during the day. Breakfast is basically self-service, and slightly above the average. Will definitely return
“Excellent hotel”
Right outside the train station and a block away from the clubs, the Hallmark far exceeded my expectations. Highest recommendation.
“A step away from the station”
This hotel was so close to the station, you basically step out and it is just to your right. We got free wifi, but the bed was in horrific condition, as it had a permanant and very steep slope. This made sleeping a little difficult. We had dinner in the restaurant below and breakfast the next morning, both were great. Besides the dodgy bed, this was not too bad.
“Bon rapport qualité/prix”
Bon rapport qualité/prix. Sdb moyen.
