“Lick of paint!”
Nice hotel, good staff!, hotel could do with a lick of paint to make it that much better
“a really enjoyable stay”
As soon as you arrive at the Damson Dene it fees like home! The log fire was burning and the hotel was a really cosy warm without being stifling. When you walk into the room it smelt of fresh pressed linen - never a bad thing. The room was a nice size and the bathroom looked newly installed/decorated. Plenty of tea and coffee is available and replenished daily. All the staff were very friendly and more than happy to help. The manager is an extremely charismatic character which adds to the welcome feel you get there. The food was superb, the breakfast buffet was fabulous with not a burnt sausage in sight :). We spent the Saturday afternoon relaxing in the pool area, a fabulous way to pass a few hours. All in all one of the most pleasantly relaxed weekends I have spent in a long while.
“Peaceful and relaxing stay”
Our 5 day stay was relaxing. We had dinner in the hotel on the first night and found the food good although a little limited in choice. On the other nights we drove 5 minutes into Bowness where there are a lot of restaurants to choose from. Breakfast was buffet style which is the case with most hotels now and again we were pleasantly surprised with the quality of food. Staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel has nice gardens and a pond to walk around. The only negative thing I would say about this hotel is that you get the feeling that it has generally seen better days. Although our room was clean, the bathroom was in need of redecoration and the shower was a problem as there was hardly any water pressure, little water came out the shower head. That said if you're looking for a bit of peace and don't mind driving in the evening to find a wider choice of food, then this hotel shouldn't disappoint you.
