"Really enjoyed stay"
We stayed at the Stanford for 4 nights over the AB Family Day. We had a room with a king bed in loft and 2 queens on main. It worked great for us, 2 adults and children 3 & 7. We were there to ski but the pool and waterslide, hottub and sauna were of course a hit. Decided not to book on the hill because of the waterslide/pool (3 year old won't ski all day). We enjoyed the free breakfast. Personally, I like some protein in the morning so missed that part but lots of carbs (waffles, toast, french toast, bagels) & fruit (apples, bananas, grapes, strawberries, oranges) - changed every day. Coffee, assortment of teas, hot chocolate, milk, apple juice and OJ to drink. We tried the dinner at the hotel. We had the Indian food and the kids had Western, i.e., pizza. The Indian was good(naan!) not as good as Mango Shiva, but it was great to be able even to have Indian with the kids - not possible generally w. the kids. Need to drive for other restaurants, too far to walk unless you really like a good hike along road!. Real hanging float plane, snow shoe, log cabin decor. Hotel backs onto river, nice for walks & rock throwing.Quick drive up to the ski hill. We like Fernie and liked the Stanford. We would definitely stay again. p.s. You can rent or buy ski/snowboard equipment at the Stanford. p.p.s There are dvd players in room and you can rent movies for $5 from lobby, not a huge selection for kids but we found some. Free Wifi, worked well everywhere. Couldn't get onto our Netflix.
