“Never every again. Derelict.”

2nd worst hotel I've ever stayed in (the first had rats that ran around) in years of traveling the world. Three hairs in the bathtub....sink peeling on the ceramic...stains and rips in the carpet...no toilet roll holder...locks on doors (main and connecting) were broken off...mold growing on the window seal...moldy old pumpkin decor in reception...dirty plates...shall I go on? Oh yes, I could hear other guests' conversations clearly through my room walls, at midnight. Pluses: They did upgrade me to a double on request (I like space). The complimentary biscuits were good. And the receptionists were pleasant..once they appeared from the room in back, or got off the phone. Avoid like the plague I was afraid to get if I stayed another night.

“It's ok”

We were satisfied with value for money at this hotel. It seemed a bit understaffed, and there was some street noise. Location was great.

Area recommendations
Anywhere in main city circle as everywhere is an easy walk.

“great location will definately go back”

I have stayed at the Brittania for the past three years when I visit Coventry. It is the most convenient hotel for everything. Public buses are right across the street and coaches that take you all over the uk to sightseeing areas. It is close to shopping, restuarants, pubs and museums and Coventry Cathedral all within walking distance.

Shopping
Great location for shopping. trimark is minutes away and have a great variety of clothes for all the family at low prices. Also close to all the shopping malls and the coentry market for fresh fruits etc
Dining
The hotel has a great sinday buffet and very good breakfast and lovely dining area. The flying standard pub just minutes away (weatherspoons) and great prices. Bttons fish and chip shop also minutes away have the best fish and chips but close early, so get there before five.

“Customer service at it's lowest. Safety issues as well.”

We have stayed at the hotel last year and the location was very convenient. This stay was very traumatic. The phones were not working and guests were not informed. The staff were dismissive and sometimes rude. My room keys were given to someone else who looked like me. The management was informed but no feedback recieved.

Area recommendations
There is an Italian cafe that serves a full english breakfast. The cathedral, broadgate shopping ceter and Nandos restaurant. There are also several pubs and clubs in the area.

“Almost ideal Coventry hotel”

This is outwardly a rather dated concrete block of a hotel and inside it's not all that pretty either but it enjoys an enviable position adjacent to the cathedral and close to all amenities including a Sainsbury's which is only a few steps away. The bus station is just across the road and the only disadvantage for the public transport using traveller is the fact that it's quite a hike from the railway station - but then it is really from nearly everywhere central. The room was spacious, well appointed with a shower/bath in one room and a loo in a separate room and the bed (a double) was extremely comfortable. The shower incidentally was powerful and effective (and I've tried lots of hotel showers). The in-room TV was a bit old by today's standards but adequate. The lifts were a bit shabby on the inside but they worked! The hotel bar was spacious and comfortable and the prices were reasonable. I didn't try the restaurant on this occasion. There is a pleasant room to sit in off the foyer and you can use free wi-fi there. You can store your luggage on departure. Overall this hotel was both very reasonably priced and very comfortable and ideal for visiting the cathedral.

“If you can stay somewhere else, do so”

The hotel was OK, the room was clean and comfortable, what bothered me was the attitude of the staff, it was like they couldn't care less that I was staying there and they were doing me a favor by doing their work. I've been in better hotels and I'll try to stay away from this one.

“Welcome to 30 years ago”

The hotel is in the middle of Coventry, opposite the bus station and a supermarket. Breakfast was not very competitively priced for the every-day-traveller and can easily be substituted (i.e. some cafe in the vicinity). Staff were professional. The decorum of the room we had was rather inadequate to even 1990s standard as nothing was remotely resembling 'modern', some of the wallpaper was already coming off and thus in my opinion the star rating is not justified.

“Pleasantly Surprised”

I had all kind of reservations about this before I went because I always check reviews before I book a hotel, however as I have an internet business myself I know that people do not always give an accurate picture. I was pleasantly surprised with this very affordable hotel with an excellent location. Yes some of it is dated but so what at the price I booked this for I could not care if it was built in the last Ice Age. I would stay again no problem and at this time when finances are feeling the pinch this hotel is ideal.
