Pleasant and Peaceful

Pros: Luxurious traditional look.
Cons: Some of the staff could do with some customer service training. It was the only thing that let the hotel down.
Location: I was there to see a concert at the Epsom Downs racecourse.
Quiet location with nice views. Room was comfortable, tea tray had ceramic teapot and was well presented. Bed was comfortable. Unfortunately the lift and steam room were out of order, but these things happen.

2nd floor room

My mum was given a room on 2nd floor even though she has heart problems and I asked for a 1st floor room. It would have been fine if the lift was working but this hadn't been working since the last review on here! Food was lovely though and breakfast staff were lovely.

Lovely character hotel

Always love coming to the area, and this hotel and the surroundings does not disappoint. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was modern and comfortable, and the breakfast was plentiful and excellent value. My only complaint is that the rooms need some air conditioning during the summer months. Even with both windows open through the night and the ceiling fan on I was sweltering!!

Pros: Nice hotel, good sized rooms. Beautiful older building. Room well thought out and space used well. Lots of facilities Clean and tidy. Staff very help
Cons: Needs sprucing up. Carpet threadbare in places and wallpaper in corridors on second floor needs replacing as bits missing
Location: Located out of the way very peaceful.
I stayed there on business as working in Croydon. Got a good rate from Expedia. My room was upgraded, so nice view over the gold course. Breakfast was not available as it started at 8.00 am and I had to be a work by then, however staff made me a coffee. Staff were very helpful. Bed good size and comfortable, but a little soft for my back.

The good the bad and the ugly

After seeing some of the photos online of the rooms. Thought it would be okay upon arrival checked in and went into a room (not with a golf view) as selected. It was dated very dated holes on carpet and wallpaper hanging off in the hall ways the place is dreadful. We were there with a group of about 8. One of us had the suite which I will say is lovely and wouldn't believe its in the same hotel but room I received was shocking. That a side we had dinner which was very nice, and served by Amanda who was excellent! Couldn't fault her service and made sure everything was OK. Go to sleep that night and the pillows are like paper thin so go to waldrobe to find one spare pillow. Play rock paper siccors with the misses she wins. I thought I'd ring through to reception to get another they tell us there is none and they'll try and sort something out. 20 minutes later door knocks open to what can only be describedasa massive cushion stuffed in a pillow case hardly what we expected. Overall its just a poor hotel and in some serious need of updating and for the price would rather stay in a travel lodge.

Très agréable séjour,cependant un petit bémol : le personnel ne parle pas français, c'est bien dommage car tous les français ne savent pas parler Anglais. En France dans tous les hôtels (surtout les 4 étoiles) le personnel parle anglais.

Poor doesnt come close

Wow, I cant describe how shabby this hotel is.. it is basically falling apart. The rooms are pitifully understated for the price paid for a night. The TV is tiny, the shower leaks, the main hotel is outdated and the beds are uncomfortable. This hotel has a real nerve charging at all for this kind of outdated rubbish. Stay if like us you need a bed for the night, but I wouldn't stay here again unless they were paying me.

old hotel

Being an old hotel, the floor boards creaked. Bed was reasonable. However, plenty of nice hot water so enjoyed the bath. Over all nice surroundings. £5 was added to my bill but then I was told that it was not required. I hope they don't charge me extra.
