“Loved our stay in Sitges”
My husband & I chose Sunway Playa as the accommodation for our trip to Barcelona from Sept. 26-Oct. 11, 2011 because we wanted to stay in a nice beach town out of the city. We were thrilled the hotel provided us with a comfortable studio with a balcony overlooking the sea. The studio was equipped with an almost separate bedroom, kitchenette and washing machine so we were able to make meals and wash clothes--Mercadona supermarket is near the train station and the hotel has a minimarket. The hotel is 2 km from central Sitges but we used the free bikes supplied by the hotel and a local bus that stops nearby for transport. It was also lovely to walk on the wide seafront promenade from the hotel into town. There's convenient train service from Sitges to Barcelona and we used the Mon-Bus service for the 30-minute trip to and from the airport. The hotel staff was always pleasant and helpful. We appreciated that they could provide service to us in English. It was summer weather during the entire visit. The hotel provided towels when we used their swimming pools to relax after sightseeing. The hotel has 3 restaurants. We enjoyed a buffet breakfast at Al Capone's and several meals at Vento's seaside terrace. We loved the ambience of the local restaurants in Sitges too. We were so pleased with the Sunway Playa & Sitges that we spent more days there than in Barcelona! We may return next year.
“Highly recommended”
This hotel is ideal if you need some peace and quiet. It is ideally located, just a ten minute taxi ride or 25 minute walk into Sitges and the train service into Barcelona is second to none. The Manager and Reception staff were absolutely fantastic. They were all VERY helpful at all times with a wonderful knowledge of the English language. The apartment was very clean and spacious. I really cannot fault the Hotel and would recommend it to anyone. Well done!!
“Will be going back at least by Spring 2012”
For the third time we have visited Sitges and Barcelona, May and September have been our dates for holidays, less people, less sun but still very very warm. We find travel easy here, trains - metro excellent and also the buses. Monserrat was a great trip, if a bit tiring, but would recommend - take a day, wear good walking shoes and be prepared for an exciting day - if you don't mind heights. We can thoroughly recommend this area for all ages, the Spanish are great with children and are very attentive. If you want good Tapas this is the place to go. We are already planning a return visit - with Expedia of course. No need for lots of clothes, sensible shoes a must if you go sight seeing, no need to dress up unless you want to and, of course, you can eat at any time of the day or night. Thoroughly recommend this holiday - go on, give it a try, you won't regret it.
“Sitges 2011”
We stayed at this hotel in 2010 and loved it so much we came back again in 2011 The hotel is spacious, clean and well maintained. There is a good menu choice from the three restaurants and a reasonably priced shop for self catering needs in the hotel apartments There are two good sized pools and the location of the hotel is perfectly located on the edge of Sitges with fantastic views of the sea and golf course It's possible to walk to the town centre in 20/30 minutes along the promenade with a great view along the way or you can use the regular trolley bus or local bus to get you there a bit quicker for a couple of euros To summarise this hotel in our opinion is excellent and diificult to find fault with. The staff are courteous and eager to please We will be back again !!
“Great place to go”
A lovely hotel with the apartment rooms giving great space. Nice setting at the end of the strip, a fair distance if walking to the town but with the free bike hire it worked very well. Would definately return.
“A touch far out”
A pleasant and above average hotel, but a touch too far from the town centre. A pleasant cycle ride (supplied by hotel) or walk along the promenade but not easy to get a taxi at night. Overall friendly, quiet and comfortable hotel. Would stay again.
“Conference Visit”
A good hotel. The rooms are well-equipped, clean and comfortable. An actual double bed (instead of two twins) would have been nice. Staff was attentive. Located in a quiet section, away from hustle and bustle. Was in town for a conference that was on the other side of Sitges, so had to take buses/taxis back and forth (for this reason, the location may not have been ideal but we enjoyed the quiet). Buses are affordable and taxis are a quick, convenient phonecall away. As a side note: We ate dinner at the restaurant (note Venetto or the Al Capone pizzeria, but the other one). The black noodle paella was very good!
“Great Place to Relax”
We stayed here prior to taking a cruise from Barcelona. It was easy to get to from the airport. Once you leave baggage claim, go to the "bus level" (down) and then cross the street. Look for the MON Bus. It leaves approximately every 30 mins. and cost 3.05 Euro pp. It will drop you in downtown Sitges. From there you can take the city bus (1.45 Euro pp) and it will drop you with 100 feet of the hotel or grab a taxi. The hotel is right on the beach promenade, but at the end where it is quiet and surrounded by lovely old homes. Our studio room was great. It was very spacious with a separate foyer where the closet and in room safe were - also entry to the modern marble bath. We had a nice efficiency kitchen (fully equipped) and also had a clothes washer. The room had a good bed, a credenza with a flat screen TV, 2 comfy armchairs and a breakfast bar for eating. Our balcony faced the pool. This got a bit noisy when the kids were in it. We did not eat in the restaurants. Breakfast was 12 Euro extra pp. The hotel did, however have a mini supermarket downstairs, and that was very handi to buy wine, water, bread etc. They also had bicycles available and it was fun to ride into town or just along the beach promenade. A cab ride to Barcelona will cost around 80 Euro, so it pays to take the bus or train.
“Best hotels I have stayed, with peaceful location away from hustle & bustle of centre”
Excellent hotel with sea view and fab location at the end of promenade away from busy hustle & bustle of town centre yet easy to reach the centre. wil cetainly recommend this hotel and even go there again in summer
“Sunway Playa Golf Sitges”
Very friendly staff, always ready to help. The location was ideal for us, beautiful sea view and quiet away from the centre of town, but easily reached by cycling along the beautiful promenade (bike hire available at the hotel). Would suit families with young children, as well as anybody else. Shuttle available from hotel to the centre of town, and local buses stop 2 min walk from the hotel. A nice bay-beach is also very close. We had a lovely time, and hope to return there.

Sitges, Spain: Barcelonas weekend seaside retreat, trendy Sitges was originally colonised by artists and intellectuals and is now a very popular gay destination. It may be the Costa Doradas most sophisticated resort but it has maintained its local identity and the Old Town has considerable charm. Sitges also boasts lovely sandy beaches, very good restaurants, a vibrant nightlife and chic boutiques. Visit in February for the riotous Sitges Carnival.
