Not Impressed - Couldn't wait to go home to the USA.

Being from America I expect a certain level of service and dignity from a resort that I stay at. The front desk staff was somber at best. It got worse by the day as they began to recognize us. I had simple questions as most tourists do such as booking excursions, the beach, possible upgrades at the hotel, hotel dining etc. The cafeteria reminded me of when I was in the 6th grade and that was a long time ago. The only fruit I saw came out of a can. The menu was very bland and you had to buy your water if you wanted any at meal time. The hotel staff advised us that there were no rooms with a view of the ocean unless you were lucky enough to book a suite, which there were never any available. The walk to the beach was across a highway then under a railroad bridge. The walls along the sidewalk enroute to the beach were covered with graffite. We never felt safe the entire time we were there.
