“Holiday Inn - Emerald Beach (okay)”
This hotel is nice because it's right on the beach, but it isn't a private beach. Don't expect to lay out on the sand because it's ore like small pebbles. The room was okay, but they need to have rooms with 2 queens and a sofa sleeper. There were four of us. We had a king bed and a sofa sleeper, so we had to get a rollaway bed for my son. We asked for extra pillows and blankets. They only had one pillow and no blankets, so both my teenagers froze all night. They also had a very uncomfortable nights sleep due to the discomfort of the sofa bed and rollaway. They really need to keep more blankets and pillows on hand.
“Hilton, Emerald Beach, Corpus Christi, TX”
The beds were uncomfortable and the entire hotel could use some updating. The front desk and bar staff were friendly, but the management, maintenance, and restaurant staff were lacking in people skills. The food was not good so plan to eat elsewhere. The website said, and showed, volleyball nets on the beach. There weren't any! This was one of the major reasons for choosing this hotel so it was very disappointing that they did not have them. A great location, which made up for a lot of the other deficiencies.
“Not very clean”
Great location but, the hotel can use some serious cleaning. When we went into the room there was a dirty diper in the bathroom. When housekeeping was called they assured us that they did clean and did not leave it there. They continue to make it seem I had put it there. However, my youngest is 17 years old. A simply sorry and was just simply an oversight would have been acceptable. The room can use some air freshner and just is not clean enough.
“Not Impressed”
The hotel and rooms were very clean and they had cool amenities such as beach access, pool and playground for kids, full restaurant, bar located on the beach, and bar in the lobby as well. But besides the fact that I had prescription medication go missing, I was not satisfied with this hotel because for the price you pay and nothing is included with that price besides the room. Breakfast was extremely overpriced for mediocre food. One day we were told three year olds and under were free for the breakfast buffet and the next day we were told it was a $3.99 charge even though our three year old only wanted one of those mini boxes of cereal and milk.
“Holiday Inn Emerald Beach”
Hotel was clean but needs renovations - new carpet and painting for one. The carpet is old and stained. Reminded me of a 1960's hotel. However, the staff was excellent especially the restaurant staff. The rooms themselves were fine, roomy and comfortable and in excellent shape. Most of the rooms do not face the water but rather North and South, so you only have a partial view of the bay. The beach is very narrow but clean. Pool only indoors. But- a good bargain for the price and rthe location is excellent. I would stay there again (but please renovate).
“Cheaper but still somewhat disappointing”
The entire hotel is in critical need of an upgrade. Almost every aspect of the facility was worn, aged and in need of a facelift. The room was acceptable for an overnight stay but felt more like staying in a bomb shelter or an older military barracks or even college dorm rather than a beach front hotel. The front desk staff were excellent but the restruant personnel at the breakfast buffet were disappointing. I've seen better breakfast buffets in military chow halls and I wasn't asked to pay $12/person to get ignored by the waitstaff. The only bright spot to the facility is that they may realize they are sinking and the price for the room was lower than most. I guess it's better than a tent in Iraq and an MRE but not by much.
“So not worth the price.”
We went as a birthday getaway for our daughter. We stayed 3 days, 2 nights. The first night we had dinner in the dining room, it took about 10 min before someone waited on us...our glasses never got refilled and when we asked for napkins they never came. The room had not been cleaned properly before our arrival. My 2 yr old daughter got her hands on about 15 broken up Doritos that had been left between the bed and nightstand from the previous guests. The last night we were staying, the elevator broke and only 1 worked. So the next day, everyone who had to checkout by 12, was scurrying around taking flights of stairs and being left behind since only so many guests fit on the elevator. There were no apologies upon checkout, no extenstions on checkout to accomodate hundreds of guests leaving at the same time, nor were there technicians addressing the elevator.
“extremely disappointed”
Usually, I do not give poor reviews. As a matter of fact, this is the first poor review I have ever given. This hotel was bad. This hotel is old, dirty, and is NOT worth the money you are charged. Sorry, but I will not take my family there again. They are doing some renovations, but it is too late for me. For the money I was charged for a two night stay, honestly, even a stay at Motel 6 would have been of a higher quality.
